Join Boortmalt and play a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of our malting operations.
We are looking for a driven and organized LAB TECHNICIAN & Operations Support to support our production, quality, and barley supply chain teams. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the daily management of the laboratory while supporting intake, production processes, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Your Responsibilities
Laboratory & Quality Management
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, cleaned, and fit for use
- Support malt analysis and Certificate of Analysis (COA) generation
- Coordinate monthly due diligence testing programs
- Manage chemical stocks used within the laboratory and malting process
- Ensure samples are accurately logged and tracked in MAPPS
- Support standardization activities and quality testing throughout the year
Production & Operations Support
- Support intake operations before, during, and after harvest
- Assist with plant and process checks, including off-kiln malt analysis
- Support malt and barley stock management in JDE
- Ensure production data is accurately entered and maintained
- Provide administrative support to the Production Manager
- Generate purchase orders for approval
- Provide holiday cover for outloading documentation when required
Health, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a strong health & safety culture across the site
- Support food safety compliance and quality systems
- Participate in daily BOPEX meetings
- Contribute to Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs) and GEMBA walks
- Assist with customer visits, audits, and site inspections
- Support regional projects and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Bioscience, Biotechnology, Food Science, or equivalent
- Good understanding of quality systems, laboratory processes, and food safety standards
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Proactive, hands-on, and detail-oriented mindset
- Fluent in English
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel and data analysis
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
