Full job description

The Hodson Bay Hotel are currently recruiting for Kitchen Porters to join our great team within the Kitchen department and this is a full time flexible position.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Cleaner/Kitchen Porter in a Hotel environment.

Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitization: Ensure all kitchen areas, work surfaces, floors, and equipment meet hotel standards for cleanliness and sanitation. This includes meal preparation areas, walls, stoves, sinks, ovens, and grills.

Dishwashing: Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and cooking equipment by hand or using industrial dishwashing machines. Ensure thorough cleaning and sanitization before reuse.

Assisting with Food Preparation: Aid kitchen staff by peeling, chopping, and preparing basic food items like vegetables and salads.

Waste Management: Properly dispose of kitchen waste, including recycling where applicable. Keep waste disposal areas clean and organized.

Regularly clean kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, mixers, and cookers. Ensure they are in good working order.

Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations: Adhere to health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Supporting Kitchen Staff: Assist chefs and kitchen personnel during busy periods, including helping to plate dishes and organize workspace.

Adaptability: Be willing to undertake additional tasks or assist in other areas of the hotel as needed, showing flexibility and a willingness to learn.

Teamwork: Collaborate with kitchen and hotel staff to ensure efficient operation and customer satisfaction.

Specific tasks include sweeping and mopping kitchen areas, washing dirty dishes and equipment, emptying and cleaning garbage cans, and organizing refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas.
