The Opportunity
Almac Sciences is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Analytical Chemist (Grade I) to join our Analytical Sciences team in Craigavon. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting global pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients by developing and validating analytical methods that help bring life-changing medicines to patients around the world.
As a Senior Analytical Chemist, you will work on a wide range of projects involving active pharmaceutical ingredients, drug products and reference standards. Your day-to-day activities will include developing and validating analytical methods, interpreting scientific data, troubleshooting technical challenges and collaborating with colleagues and clients to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, accuracy and regulatory compliance.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced scientists, while working within a collaborative and highly skilled team environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and validating analytical methods using techniques such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC)
Interpreting scientific data, identifying trends and solving technical challenges
Planning and managing project activities to meet customer timelines and deliverables
Preparing high-quality reports and technical documentation
Supporting client interactions, audits and customer visits
Mentoring and training junior team members
Maintaining compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements and company procedures
Driving continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to technical discussions across the department

What you need to be successful
To be considered for this opportunity, you should hold a degree in an Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry or related scientific discipline (or possess equivalent experience), together with previous laboratory experience in an analytical environment.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
Previous experience working in a laboratory environment
Strong understanding of analytical chemistry techniques and scientific problem solving
Experience with analytical method development, validation or troubleshooting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
A commitment to quality, accuracy and regulatory compliance
The ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment
Desirable criteria:
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific discipline
Experience working within a GMP or GLP regulated environment
Experience supporting method development and validation programmes
