Social Care & Support Roles | Full & Part-Time | Waterford

WIDA Child and Young Persons Service

Who We Are:

WIDA is a community based voluntary provider of services for children and young persons with an intellectual disability and/or autism in Waterford City and County.

WIDA is registered charity, with a voluntary Board of Directors. The WIDA Child and Young Adult Service is funded by TULSA.

PACE- Informed Nurture Model of Care

We are currently seeking passionate, resilient, and reflective professionals to join our growing children's residential team as both Social Care Workers and Support Workers.

This is an exciting opportunity for professional development within a psychologically informed children's residential service that values learning, reflective practice, and therapeutic care. Staff will be supported to grow their knowledge, skills, and confidence through regular supervision, reflective team meetings, and ongoing training opportunities.

You will work within a PACE-informed, nurture informed model of care that priorities relationships, emotional safety, developmental understanding, and therapeutic support. Our approach is grounded in the belief that connection, relational repair, and consistency are central to helping young people heal, develop, and thrive.

Experience working with children is highly desirable. We welcome applicants with backgrounds such as:

Special Needs Assistant (SNA)
Primary school teacher
Children's sports coach or activity leader
Social care worker, particularly within children's residential services
Youth worker or youth centre volunteer
Any role involving close support, supervision, or engagement with children.
Relevant voluntary experience working with children or young people will also be considered a strong advantage.

Skilled in relationship-based and developmentally informed approaches
Passionate about creating safe, nurturing, and predictable environments for children and young people

The ability to work therapeutically within a team environment
Excellent communication and emotional regulation skills
A capacity to remain reflective and curious within challenging situations
Commitment to delivering high-quality, child-centered care
Our residential service operates from a PACE-informed framework (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy), supporting children through connection rather than correction. We value co-regulation, emotional safety, and the importance of nurturing relationships in all aspects of care.

This role would suit professionals who want to work in an environment that values not only outcomes for young people, but also the well being, growth, and support of staff teams.

Salary: Social Care Worker €40,851 to €57,217

Support Worker €34,536 to €47,954

Hours of Work:

Full Time 156 hours per 4 weeks or Part Time 120 hours per 4 weeks

Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Eligibility:

Applications will be considered from candidates who meet the following minimum requirements:
Relevant qualifications and/or experience appropriate to the role and profession
Demonstrated competencies and skills suitable for supporting individuals with an intellectual disability
A valid permit and legal entitlement to work and live in Ireland
A full clean manual driving licence is essential
