General OperativePrefabrication Facility – Kells, Co. Meath

About Designer Group

Designer Group is a leading international mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering contractor.

We deliver major projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe, supporting sectors including data centres, life sciences, industrial, commercial, energy and infrastructure.

As we continue to grow, we are developing our new prefabrication facility in Kells, Co. Meath. This facility will play a key role in how we deliver projects more efficiently, safely and sustainably by manufacturing and assembling high-quality M&E components off site before they are delivered to projects.

We are now looking for General Operatives to join the team and support the day-to-day production, assembly and movement of materials within the facility.

The Role

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is reliable, hardworking and comfortable working in a busy production or construction-related environment.

You will support the fabrication, assembly, preparation and movement of materials and components within the facility. You do not need to be a qualified tradesperson, but experience in construction, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, mechanical, electrical or general labouring environments would be beneficial.

Full training will be provided where required.

Key Responsibilities

As a General Operative, you will:

Support the assembly, preparation and movement of prefabricated M&E components.
Assist trades, supervisors and production teams with daily tasks.
Load, unload, sort and move materials safely around the facility.
Prepare work areas, tools, parts and materials for production activities.
Carry out basic assembly, fitting, packing, labelling and general production duties.
Help maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
Report any defects, shortages, damage or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Support stock control, housekeeping and material handling activities.
Work as part of a team to meet production targets and project deadlines.
Operate basic tools, equipment or machinery where trained and authorised to do so.
Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the successful running of the facility.

Requirements

We are looking for people who are dependable, practical and willing to learn.

You should have:

Previous experience in a general operative, labouring, warehouse, production, manufacturing or construction environment.
A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Good attention to detail.
Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
Good timekeeping and reliability.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Willingness to learn new skills.
Manual handling awareness or certification would be an advantage.
Forklift, MEWP or safe pass certification would be beneficial but is not essential.
Experience working around mechanical, electrical, pipework, steelwork, cable containment or modular assembly would be an advantage.
