Rock Salt Café is on the lookout for a talented and driven Head Catering Chef to lead our central production kitchen and oversee our expanding catering operations. This is a pivotal role at the core of our brand, responsible for delivering excellence across multiple facets of our food business—from everyday café operations to tailored meals for sports teams, events, and our growing “Fit Meals” range.
About the Role:
As Head Catering Chef, you will lead menu development and kitchen management for our catering and café services. You’ll be the driving force behind our high-volume production kitchen, ensuring consistency, quality, and innovation across everything we do. This role requires strong leadership, culinary creativity, and operational expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operations of the central production kitchen at Rock Salt
- Lead menu development for catering functions, café service, Fit Meals, and sports team nutrition
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and consistency at scale
- Manage kitchen staff, scheduling, and performance across multiple food streams
- Maintain excellent standards in food safety, HACCP compliance, and kitchen hygiene
- Collaborate with the café team and catering leads to ensure seamless service and delivery
- Innovate seasonal and bespoke offerings for functions, events, and fitness-oriented meals
- Monitor and control kitchen costs, wastage, and stock levels
- Drive efficiency and productivity while nurturing a positive kitchen culture
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in catering and high-volume production kitchens is a must
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Passion for fresh, wholesome, and creative food
- Ability to manage multiple food concepts and dietary requirements
- High standards in kitchen cleanliness, food safety, and staff training
- A problem-solver with a proactive attitude and attention to detail
