Avantor is looking for a Materials Controller (f/m/d) to join our team in Limerick on a full-time basis with rotating 12-hours daytime shifts. You will be based at our customer site in a laboratory support function, working alongside your colleagues on ensuring smooth operations for our scientific staff.
The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a Material Handler to join our onsite team at a leading biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Limerick.
In this role, you will help ensure scientists and manufacturing teams have the materials they need, when they need them. Working within a GMP-regulated environment, you will support inventory management, stock replenishment and laboratory support activities while delivering excellent customer service to onsite stakeholders.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates from retail, hospitality, customer service, stores, inventory or operational support backgrounds who enjoy working in a structured environment, take pride in attention to detail and are interested in building a career within the life sciences industry. Full training will be provided.
The Team
You will be part of a dedicated onsite Avantor team responsible for supporting laboratory and manufacturing operations through inventory management, stock replenishment and customer support services. Working closely with colleagues and customer stakeholders, you will play an important role in ensuring critical scientific operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management
- Receive, check and process incoming deliveries.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular stock checks and cycle counts.
- Monitor inventory levels and identify replenishment requirements.
- Ensure stock is stored safely, accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
- Support inventory rotation and expiry management activities.
Laboratory & Point-of-Use Support
- Replenish inventory at laboratory and manufacturing points of use.
- Support daily inventory management activities across customer locations.
- Monitor consumption trends and highlight potential supply issues.
- Ensure materials are available to support critical scientific and manufacturing activities.
Customer Service & Operational Support
- Build effective working relationships with customer stakeholders.
- Respond professionally to day-to-day service requests and operational requirements.
- Communicate issues, delays or inventory concerns promptly.
- Contribute to a positive customer experience through reliable and consistent service delivery.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Follow GMP requirements, site procedures and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Support audit readiness through compliance with established processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve service quality, efficiency and operational performance.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For:
Education
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Experience in inventory management, stock replenishment, stores, retail, hospitality, customer service or operational support environments is advantageous.
- Experience working within structured processes or documented procedures is advantageous.
- Experience in a GMP, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, healthcare or regulated environment would be a distinct advantage.
- Previous experience using inventory systems or stock management systems is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong customer service focus and ability to build positive working relationships.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel is essential.
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.

Rotating 12-hour daytime shift pattern:
Week 1:
- Work Monday and Tuesday
- Off Wednesday and Thursday
- Work Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Week 2:
- Off Monday and Tuesday
- Work Wednesday and Thursday
- Off Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Additional Requirements
- Full driving licence and access to personal transport.
- Ability to work onsite in Limerick.
