JOB DESCRIPTION – Sales Assistant

JOB TITLE: General Sales Assistant

AVAILABLE POSITION: Full Time

REPORTS TO: Manager

Treacy’s Homevalue is a family-owned hardware store and has been at the heart of Thomastown for over 30 years.

Our store aims to provide the best service and product selections for the customers we serve and uphold our customer first philosophy to be the most helpful hardware store possible.

The store opens Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Position Summary

The primary responsibilities of our Sales Assistants are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise product, and support the store management team. A General Sales Assistant requires a unique ability to assist customers in selecting the right hardware products to meet their needs, providing expert advice and guidance. Sales Assistants are also required to liaise with suppliers, as well as monitor, maintain and re-order and check-in stock to ensure consistent stock levels are maintained.

Major Responsibilities

· Processing sale accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system from customers in store and over the phone.

· Assisting customers in selecting hardware & light hardware products, providing advice and guidance throughout the process

· Merchandising products, monitoring inventory levels and restocking shelves.

· Answering customer queries in store and over the phone, providing helpful solutions in a timely manner

· Communicate positively with team members and management to achieve sales targets and promote our customer first philosophy.

Essential Requirements:

YOU MUST

· Have proof of right to work in Ireland and an Irish bank account in your own name.

· Be able to converse in fluent English.

· Have good interaction and communication skills with an interest in sales.

· Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends (Saturdays)

· Be able to commute to and from our premises in Thomastown.

Training

· Training will be provided where necessary for all aspects of the job

Knowledge & Experience

· Knowledge of Hardware (preferred)

· Retail Experience (preferred)

· Excellent people & communication skills.

· Ability to cope under pressure.

· Team working skills.

· Strong planning and organisational skills.

· Ability to work independently.

· Problem-solving ability.

· Knowledge of retail computer systems.

Remuneration

The Sales Assistant position is available in a full-time position with salary starting from €29,000 per annum and depending on previous trade experience.
