Shift Pattern Monday - Friday 08:30 - 17:00
Working mainly on client premises, the Assessor surveys systems, reviews documentation and control regimes, and produces structured, evidence-based reports that support Aquachem's commitment to protecting public health and delivering high-quality service. This role involves visiting multiple sites nationwide
Key Responsibilities
Conducting Legionella risk assessments of hot and cold-water systems and other relevant plant in line with current guidance and Aquachem procedures.
Surveying and documenting assets, plant and pipework routes, including condition, usage, and potential for stagnation, aerosol generation or contamination.
Reviewing existing control regimes, monitoring records, schematics and previous assessments to evaluate effectiveness.
Identifying and assessing risk factors such as poor temperature control, dead legs, infrequently used outlets, poor tank condition, scale and corrosion.
Taking required measurements and readings and supporting sampling programmes where needed.
Developing clear, prioritised recommendations for remedial works, control improvements and ongoing monitoring.
Producing accurate, professional written reports, including asset information, photographs and action plans.
Liaising with clients on site to explain findings and support understanding of responsibilities and compliance status.
Working closely with internal Aquachem teams to help ensure recommendations are implemented and followed up.
Complete Legionella Risk Assessments (LRAs) in line with legislation, guidance, client requirements and Aquachem procedures.
Capture site data, asset information, readings and observations accurately and upload to agreed systems/templates.
Prepare clear reports that identify risks, justify recommendations and set out practical, prioritised action plans.
Maintain records of site visits, assessments and outcomes to support audits and client reviews.
Follow document control processes to ensure reports and schematics are version-controlled and issued correctly.
Complete required HSE training (e.g. manual handling, working at height, confined spaces, COSHH).
Carry out dynamic risk assessments on site and stop work if conditions are unsafe.
Use vehicles, tools and equipment safely and maintain them in good condition.
Follow environmental best practice, including safe handling and disposal of chemicals and samples.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with key site contacts.
Explaining findings and recommendations in clear, non-technical language where appropriate. .
Escalating significant non-compliances or safety concerns through the appropriate channels.
Qualifications and Experience
Completed recognised training in Legionella Risk Assessment and Water Hygiene Control in Water Systems.
Experience in the water treatment, water hygiene, building services or related industry.
Experience conducting or supporting Legionella risk assessments or similar compliance-based site work.
Full driving licence and experience driving for work.
Additional training in Legionella control, water regulations or similar industry-recognised courses.
Health and safety training (e.g. IOSH Working/Managing Safely, Confined Space, Working at Height, Manual Handling, COSHH Awareness).
Experience on a range of sites (e.g. healthcare, commercial, industrial, education, public sector).
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and pipework schematics.
Familiarity with digital reporting tools (Collabit)
