Full job description

HGV/Plant Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled HGV/Plant Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), trailers, and plant machinery, ensuring compliance with safety standards

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs on HGVs, trailers, trucks, plant equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders), and associated systems including engines, hydraulics, gearboxes, electrics, and brakes.
Conduct diagnostic tests using specialized tools and computer equipment; diagnose faults, dismantle, repair/replace components, and reassemble for testing.
Prepare vehicles and equipment for CVRT/12 week inspections.
Respond to breakdowns, attend call-outs, and perform on-site or roadside repairs.
Maintain accurate records of work, parts used, and services.
Ensure workshop cleanliness, safety, and housekeeping.
Comply with health & safety policies, report incidents, and promote a proactive safety culture.

Requirements

Proven experience as an HGV/Plant Mechanic or Newly qualified apprentice with knowledge of mixed fleets (HGVs, trailers, plant machinery).
Experience with diagnostic tools, hand/power tools, welding, and lifting gear.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
Full clean driving license; willingness for flexible hours including call-outs.
Must be already living in Ireland
