Consumer Bureau – Role – Mid Level Quality Engineer – Python & AWS

Creditsafe are expanding their Consumer Bureau team, an exciting new project aiming to have us enter the Consumer Credit Bureau space in the United Kingdom and eventually become a fully-fledged Consumer Reporting Agency. We’re looking for a Quality Engineer experienced in testing cloud-native software systems.

THE TEAM

This opportunity is to join an Agile team of Software, Data and Quality engineers who are responsible for two – one productionized and one upcoming – big data projects. These projects process hundreds of GB a day in massive ELTL ingest, person-centric matching, and sub-second-serving batch and near-real-time processes.

The wider Quality Engineering community within Creditsafe work together in driving a culture of quality into the teams acting as knowledge experts on quality. We test throughout the lifecycle and believe that the whole team is responsible for the quality of our deliverables. We implement intelligent automation and are proponents of thinking critically about the features developed by our teams.

YOUR ROLE

As a Quality Engineer, you will play an essential role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our data solutions. You will collaborate closely with engineering and product teams from the beginning stages of development, offering input on system design and testing strategies. Your focus will be on data pipeline, API, and infrastructure testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and scalability.

This is a hybrid position, requiring attendance in the office for 50% of the working week, in line with our hybrid work policy.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

Early Testing Involvement: Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams from the start of development to ensure quality is a focus throughout the design process.

Data Pipeline Testing: Develop and maintain automated tests for complex data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and performance from data ingestion to delivery.

API Testing: Test APIs to ensure they meet performance and reliability requirements under various conditions.

Data Validation: Verify data correctness, completeness, and accuracy across multiple sources (e.g., Redshift, S3, Aurora, Postgres, DynamoDB).

Automation: Lead test automation efforts using tools such as PyTest and integrate these into our continuous testing pipelines.

Collaboration: Work with data engineers, developers, and product owners to understand data flows and business requirements, ensuring that all new features are thoroughly tested before deployment.

Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues within data pipelines and APIs, providing clear reports and working with the engineering team to fix them.

Performance Testing: Conduct performance testing on systems to identify bottlenecks and help improve performance.

We will support your learning and provide resources to help you grow in this role.

WHAT YO U BRING

Experience: Proven experience in software testing, especially with data pipelines and API testing in complex environments.

Technical Skills: Strong Python skills for test automation, and familiarity with AWS services (e.g., Redshift, S3, DynamoDB).

Problem-Solving: Analytical skills to understand and test complex data flows and systems.

Automation: Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks that integrate with CI/CD pipelines.

Communication: Ability to explain complex technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical team members.

Collaboration: Work closely with teams to improve design and quality practices. Your input will be valued as part of our continuous learning culture.

Leadership: Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading testing efforts on complex projects.
