The LFI Samel Beckett is a vibrant French International primary school serving children aged 3 to 10 years and its after-school caters for a high number of children every day. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can flourish.
We are currently seeking a dedicated, patient, and enthusiastic Lunchtime & After-School Care Supervisors to join our support team during the lunch break and after-school care period.
Role Overview
The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of children during lunch and the structured after-school care program. You will work closely with the Afterschool manager, the team leaders, the principal, and teaching staff to maintain a harmonious and secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety & Welfare Supervision: Actively supervise children at all times during the designated hours, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring zero tolerance for bullying or unsafe behaviour. Safeguarding: Adhere strictly to Children First guidelines and the school's Child Protection Procedures.
2. Play & Engagement (Ages 3–10) Lunch Supervision: Supervise and assist the children when needed, encourage healthy eating habits, supervise the children outdoors and indoors after eating and/or clean-up of the classroom (roster) After-School supervision: Supervise the children under your care. Facilitate age appropriate games, sports, arts and crafts, and quiet reading activities. Respond to the children needs. Conflict Resolution: Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to resolve disputes between children constructively. Inclusion: Ensure that children with additional needs feel included and supported during free play.
3. Operational Duties
- Transition: Ensure a smooth handover of children from teachers to supervisors and/or activities tutors and vice versa.
- Hygiene: Assist younger children (ages 3–6) with toileting, hand washing, and personal hygiene routines.
- Reporting: report any incidents, accidents (using the school's accident book), and behavioural observations to your team leader
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with other supervision/care staff, team leaders, teachers, and administrative personnel. Essential Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum Level 5 qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) or a related field (e.g., NCCMA, QQI Level 5 Award in Childcare).
- Alternatively, significant verified experience in a school or ELC setting may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Vetting: Must be willing to undergo full disclosure vetting through the National Vetting Bureau (NVB) for working with children and provide Garda vetting from previous countries of residence. No prior convictions that would preclude working with children will be accepted.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children aged 3–10 in a school or crèche setting highly desirable.
- First Aid: Current Pediatric First Aid certification desirable
- References: Two written references (one must relate to recent work with children).
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) welcome.
- Ability to manage large groups of energetic children while maintaining calm.
- Creativity in organizing low-resource outdoor/indoor games.
- French speaking not compulsory but desirable
