Position Overview
The VP - Strategic Projects Manager, SCM, International will work across Division and Geographies to develop and implement a joined up Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM) strategy across CRH international based on market demand assessment, SCM portfolio opportunities, SCM material performance and feasibility assessment, associated investment requirements including supply chain and logistics and other relevant technical, operational, and commercial considerations as relevant.
This role will play a critical part in operationalising CRH International’s SCM strategy by bringing the relevant capabilities from across the business together to develop a coordinated and consolidated strategy with a clear articulation of recommendations and rationale including business case alignment and any associated investment proposals.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Deposit Mapping, Testing, Classification & Assessment
- Complete our knowledge base of relevant SCM reserves (both owned and non-owned deposits) as relavent through mapping, testing and any other steps as relevant to determine and prioritise viable sources of materials.
- Refine the parameters and metrics for classification, assessment and prioritisation of SCM reserves and align with all relevant stakeholders to implement any changes as necessary.
Securing Strategic Sources
- Work with Opcos to identify and prioritise deposits of SCM materials (both owned and non-owned deposits) to address our needs over the long term.
- Where deposits are not owned, guide and support recommendations and proposals to secure ownership / access through acquisition and/or strategic partnerships and support the process execution.
- Collaborate with procurement, operational and commercial teams to support evaluation of SCM sourcing opportunities and processing locations.
Market Evaluation & Demand Projections
- Build a consolidated picture of projected demand for SCM material types over time across relevant markets based on internal demand projections and external opportunity review.
- Ensure alignment with the product portfolio development work (PPM) across the businesses as part of clarifying demand requirements over time.
Commercial & Operational Strategy
- For commercially viable opportunities, build a commercial and route to market strategy to commercialise viable opportunities for SCM material types.
- Collaborate with Opcos to identify key requirements across technical (including norms & standards etc), operational, supply chain, logistics etc and clarify roadmap of actions for execution.

- Writes well and is proficient in conveying message using PPT, WORD, Email, verbally, as well as strong analytical skills.
Experience / Education
You are/have:
- ~15 years of progressive experience in commercial, strategy, or operations, ideally within heavy materials, cement, aggregates, or bulk commodities.
- Experienced leadership and collaboration across geographically dispersed teams with proven project management skills, works well under pressure and adheres to deadlines.
- Proven results-driven leader with a track record of execution.
- Willingness to travel across European locations as required (approximately 25-30%)
