At Expel, we craft experiences that clarify understanding, improve decision-making, and help people work better. UX isn't an afterthought—it's a critical differentiator with champions at the highest levels. No politics, no BS. Just a team of thoughtful, dedicated professionals who want the best experience for our customers.
Want to join our team? We're looking for a user experience designer with strong interaction skills and a curiosity for technically complex domains.
If you're the kind of designer who loves spending time with users, user analytics, knows how to get creative with experiments, and can turn a complicated problem into a simple workflow, we want to hear from you!
Many companies promise UX a seat at the table, but Expel delivers. Our designers take a lead role in discovery, research, and feature definition and are deeply involved during development, rollout, and adoption.
- Nurture your talent with a humane, collaborative team culture and a manager who's got your back. We're serious about inclusion, diversity, and fostering a workplace where you can be yourself and speak your mind without fear.
- Put you on a defined promotion path, as a people manager or technical leader.
- Support your professional development with a generous yearly conference and training budget.
- Give regular feedback on your performance via weekly 1:1s, 6 month performance reviews, and formal and informal critique sessions with the UX team.
- Provide regular opportunities to talk directly with customers and do high-quality research.
- Back up your design vision with a group of fast, collaborative developers eager to experiment with you.
In this role, you'll improve our core product, Workbench. This product enables our analysts to make decisions quickly and share those decisions with our customers.
This means you'll:
- Conduct user and market research to understand the personas, use cases, and jobs to be done.
- Synthesise research insights and present findings to team members and leadership.
- Work closely with engineers so you grasp the technical constraints and opportunities for creative experimentation.
- Design lean experiments to test hypotheses, measure outcomes, and iterate rapidly.
- Think big picture, guide product vision with other collaborators
- Collaborate with partners in product management, engineering, UX, and our Secure Operations leadership to guarantee we're taking on the right problems with the best solutions to scale the product.
- Strong UX design practice, particularly in research, prototyping, interaction design, design systems, and workshop facilitation.
- Curiosity and willingness to dive into the technical details with engineers, when needed.
- Experience designing workflows and communicating information to users to make informed decisions.
- Effective low-fi sketching and prototyping as a means to get feedback and iterate quickly—and the willingness to throw it all out and try again.
- Clear articulation of the design problem, the tradeoffs you've made in your solution, and the impact of different approaches.
- A high degree of comfort making decisions without all the information, and learning from the inevitable wrong turns.
- Strong communication skills that ensure product partners are in the loop, understand project direction, know what's coming up next and one year down the road.
- Minimum 4 years' experience on a cross-functional product team where you collaborated with product managers and engineers.
- Experience in cybersecurity domain is preferred, but not required.
- Experience with SaaS, e-commerce, productivity software, or industrial applications helps.
- Facility using one of the popular UX design tools, Figma, Adobe XD (we use Figma, FWIW)
- Experimenting and adopting AI in your workflow.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
