The Senior Cloud Engineer designs, builds, maintains, and improves AWS cloud infrastructure for Patient Care Systems (PCS), including EC2, ELB, RDS, Security Groups, S3, CloudWatch, Windows, Red Hat Linux, networking, storage, and cloud-native services that support customer-facing and business-critical applications. This role uses Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, automation, monitoring, and observability tools such as ELK Stack and Dynatrace to improve reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, incident response, and repeatable infrastructure delivery.

Medtronic’s Cardiovascular (CV) group is looking for a motivated Senior Cloud Engineer to work in Patient Care Systems (PCS), supporting cloud infrastructure services for customer-facing and business-critical applications. You will be responsible for the health, observability, scalability, security, and maintainability of production AWS infrastructure and the auxiliary components that support day-to-day operations. An ideal candidate is a seasoned individual contributor with advanced cloud engineering depth, strong infrastructure automation experience, and the ability to independently determine and develop approaches to complex technical solutions across EC2, Windows, Red Hat Linux, Terraform, cloud-native services, systems administration, networking, storage, and automation.
A Day in the Life

- Serve as a seasoned cloud engineering contributor who works independently under limited supervision to determine and develop approaches for complex infrastructure solutions.
- Own or significantly contribute to cloud infrastructure projects, processes, and operational improvements within the Skynet job area.
- Design, build, maintain, and improve AWS environments using services such as EC2, ELB, RDS, Security Groups, S3, CloudWatch, and related cloud-native capabilities.
- Maintain and upgrade deployment platforms and system infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code practices with Terraform, Ansible, and repeatable automation patterns.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support reliable, secure, and observable delivery of infrastructure and services.
- Use monitoring and observability platforms such as CloudWatch, ELK Stack, and Dynatrace to troubleshoot issues, improve reliability, and provide in-depth analysis with recommendations for process or system improvements.
- Communicate facts, status, ideas, risks, and issues to internal customers, senior stakeholders, vendors, and partner teams to influence decisions and reach agreement on assignments.
- Coach, review, and provide technical guidance or training to lower-level specialists and team members within the cloud engineering job area.

- Advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure engineering, combining breadth and depth across AWS, automation, operating systems, networking, storage, security, and observability.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration automation using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze difficult issues involving multiple systems or technical specialties and recommend improvements to processes, systems, or cloud products.

- Requires a Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or another technology or engineering discipline with a strong focus in cloud infrastructure delivery; for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

- Strong hands-on experience designing and managing AWS environments (EC2, RDS, S3, networking, and security).
