At AECOM, we are currently recruiting for an Electrical Building Services Engineer to join us at our Dublin office.
The Electrical Building Services Engineer will be required to attend site three days per week and two days per week will be remote working.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Your day to day will include but not be limited to the following tasks and responsibilities:
The Electrical Building Services Engineer is responsible for the assurance, and where required, the design of electrical engineering elements associated with projects delivered by the Infrastructure Department. These projects include airfield developments, site works, utilities, buildings and building services, external works, car parks, and minor road infrastructure.
The role may be aligned to either Functional or Delivery teams, depending on project requirements, and requires flexibility to support multiple Delivery Programmes across the organisation.
Programme Requirements, Standards & Performance

Ensure that designs and contract documentation are delivered in accordance with programme timelines, quality standards, and budgetary objectives established by the Contracting Entity, while adhering to best-practice governance and control procedures defined within the programme and project delivery framework.

Assess engineering requirements across multiple programmes to confirm technical feasibility and alignment with the Contracting Entity’s strategic objectives.

Support projects through all stages of the project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through to construction, commissioning, and handover, effectively managing interfaces, dependencies, and competing priorities.

Collaborate with programme teams to ensure contractor compliance with approved designs and technical requirements throughout the construction phase.
Technical Leadership and Design Assurance

Provide technical assurance for the design of infrastructure projects and facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes of practice, ICAO/EASA standards, statutory requirements, and international best practice.

Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with the quality management system.

Ensure designs fully address the requirements of the client brief and stakeholder expectations, while maintaining compliance with planning conditions, Building Regulations, fire safety requirements, airport directives, and all relevant regulatory and statutory obligations.

Participate in airside risk assessments where required, including construction activities and projects involving third-party service providers operating airside. Support the implementation of agreed mitigation measures to address identified risks.

Assist in the preparation of tender documentation for the appointment of external consultants and support the procurement and management of design services and construction contractors.

Where required, review, issue, and monitor Site Work Procedure (SWP) documentation associated with airside construction activities.

Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications, reports, surveys, and site investigations, while engaging with clients, stakeholders, and project teams throughout the programme lifecycle.

Provide professional technical guidance and mentorship to engineering personnel across the Delivery Programmes, supporting the consistent application of standards and best practices.

Ensure that recommended engineering solutions are technically robust, operationally effective, sustainable, compliant with project requirements, and deliver best value throughout the asset lifecycle.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
As the successful candidate you will have experience working within our infrastructure market along with having the following qualfications and experience.

A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience delivering aviation infrastructure projects and other complex engineering projects of a similar scale and complexity.

Demonstrated experience, where required, acting as a Design Lead on multi-million-euro projects, including providing technical assurance through the review and approval of designs, drawings, and engineering deliverables prepared by internal teams, consultants, and contractors.

Strong understanding of the safety requirements, operational constraints, and regulatory processes associated with the design and construction of airside infrastructure.

Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite for design coordination, documentation, reporting, and project management activities.

Proficient in the use of discipline-specific engineering software relevant to the design, analysis, and delivery of building services and infrastructure projects.
