Director, Digital & Cloud Platforms
Role Summary
Grant Thornton GTech is organizing Digital & Cloud Platforms to provide secure, scalable, reliable, and efficient cloud, collaboration, workplace, identity, and platform services for employees globally. The Director/Sr. Director, Digital & Cloud Platforms will lead the Digital & Cloud Platforms function and will be accountable for strategy, delivery, modernization, governance, adoption, operational excellence, and value realization across cloud platforms, digital workplace technologies, Microsoft services, identity and access management, product ownership, and platform operations.
This role leads a globally distributed organization supporting Operations, Product Ownership, Cloud Delivery, Digital Workplace Delivery, and IAM Delivery. The Director will establish roadmaps, operating standards, investment priorities, service expectations, governance forums, and delivery models that maximize business value from Microsoft, cloud, and workplace technology investments.
The role partners closely with Infrastructure, Product Ownership, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Data & Analytics, Service Management, Integration Delivery, and business stakeholders to align platform strategy, product roadmaps, operational readiness, security requirements, business demand, and measurable outcomes across the Digital & Cloud Platforms portfolio.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the Digital & Cloud Platforms vision, strategy, operating model, and multi-year technology roadmap.
Lead a global organization responsible for Cloud Delivery, Digital Workplace Delivery, IAM Delivery, Product Ownership, and Platform Operations.
Establish service, architecture, engineering, governance, delivery, and support standards across the Digital & Cloud Platforms portfolio.
Define enterprise AI workplace strategy for Microsoft Copilot and Cowork platforms, including governance, deployment, adoption, value realization, and ongoing roadmap management.
Chair Digital Workplace, AI, and Microsoft Platform Governance forums to align stakeholders on platform decisions, risk, privacy, security, adoption, and investment choices.
Ensure Microsoft platform investments, licensing, adoption, and capability roadmaps maximize business value and employee productivity.
Lead budget planning, workforce strategy, location strategy, vendor management, and investment prioritization activities.
Drive innovation and modernization initiatives that improve productivity, security, operational efficiency, employee experience, and platform reliability.
Cloud Platform Delivery
Lead delivery of enterprise cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, automation, and modernization initiatives.
Oversee cloud architecture, engineering standards, cloud security, governance, infrastructure-as-code, and automation practices.
Drive application and infrastructure migration programs supporting transformation, modernization, and acquisition integration needs.
Establish resiliency, scalability, compliance, and operational readiness standards for cloud services.
Enable development, infrastructure, and product teams through reusable cloud platform capabilities and shared services.
Drive platform modernization, optimization, cost management, and technology lifecycle management initiatives.
Digital Workplace, AI & Collaboration Services
Own the strategy, governance, deployment, adoption, and optimization of Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Copilot, Cowork, Power Platform, and workplace productivity technologies.
Lead the Microsoft Copilot and Cowork strategy, including roadmap development, deployment planning, governance, security controls, adoption planning, change enablement, and value realization.
Drive deployment and adoption of Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Cowork, and AI-powered productivity capabilities that improve collaboration, knowledge sharing, decision-making, and employee productivity.
Establish governance frameworks for AI-enabled workplace technologies in partnership with Infrastructure, Product Ownership, Security, Legal, Privacy, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders.
Lead digital workplace transformation programs that modernize the employee technology experience and enable secure work from anywhere.
Oversee endpoint modernization, workplace technology enhancements, collaboration services, content management capabilities, and employee experience initiatives.
Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to identify and deliver high-value collaboration, automation, low-code, and AI-driven capabilities.
Develop measurement frameworks to track adoption, utilization, productivity improvements, user experience, and business outcomes delivered by digital workplace technologies.
Identity & Access Management
Define and execute the enterprise Identity and Access Management strategy and modernization roadmap.
Lead delivery and modernization of Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Multifactor Authentication, Single Sign-On, Identity Governance, and Privileged Access Management capabilities.
Implement and enhance Joiner-Mover-Leaver automation and identity lifecycle management processes.
Establish role-based access control and authorization frameworks across enterprise platforms.
Advance Zero Trust initiatives and identity security maturity in partnership with Information Security and Infrastructure.
Ensure IAM capabilities meet security, audit, compliance, operational, and enterprise risk requirements.
Product Ownership & Governance
Collaborate closely with Product Owners to establish platform roadmaps, demand management processes, release planning, adoption objectives, and investment priorities.
Ensure Product Ownership, Cloud Delivery, Digital Workplace, IAM, Infrastructure, and Operations teams operate through a coordinated governance and delivery framework.
Partner with Product Owners to evaluate Microsoft roadmap changes, licensing opportunities, emerging platform capabilities, Copilot innovations, Cowork enhancements, and investment tradeoffs.
Monitor adoption, utilization, user experience, value realization, and key performance metrics across the platform portfolio.
Govern product lifecycle management, funding decisions, service ownership, capability retirement, and strategic investment priorities.
Serve as executive sponsor for Microsoft platform governance, roadmap alignment, stakeholder engagement, and value realization initiatives.
Operations & Service Excellence
Ensure the reliability, availability, performance, and supportability of enterprise cloud and workplace platforms.
Lead platform operations through automation, monitoring, incident management, problem management, service performance management, and continuous improvement disciplines.
Establish service level objectives, operational metrics, and executive reporting that provide visibility into service health, risk, adoption, and value delivery.
Implement global support models that leverage follow-the-sun capabilities across multiple delivery centers while enabling appropriate specialization by platform area.
Ensure newly deployed capabilities transition cleanly into steady-state operations while strategic platform innovations remain aligned to engineering, product, and governance expectations.
Create a delivery culture focused on disciplined execution, transparent risk management, stakeholder alignment, partner accountability, and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Requirements
10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience across cloud platforms, digital workplace services, infrastructure engineering, enterprise productivity platforms, identity management, or related enterprise technology functions.
5+ years leading global teams, technology delivery functions, platform organisations, or distributed engineering and operations teams.
Demonstrated experience leading large-scale Microsoft platform transformations involving Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Power Platform, Copilot, identity, cloud, endpoint, or collaboration capabilities.
Experience developing and operating platform governance forums, product roadmaps, technology lifecycle processes, risk controls, adoption programs, and value realization measures.
Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot, Cowork, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Microsoft Entra ID, IAM, IGA, PAM, Zero Trust, cloud security, infrastructure-as-code, and enterprise endpoint management.
Experience partnering with Infrastructure, Product Ownership, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Data & Analytics, Service Management, Integration Delivery, Legal, Privacy, Risk, Compliance, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Ability to translate business needs into technology strategy, platform roadmaps, investment choices, stakeholder decisions, and executable delivery plans.
Experience managing budgets, vendors, implementation partners, service expectations, and resource plans in a complex global enterprise environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create executive-level updates, decision materials, roadmap narratives, governance artifacts, and risk summaries.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field required; advanced degree or relevant Microsoft, cloud, security, or service management certifications preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience leading enterprise Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot, Cowork, and AI-enabled workforce transformation programs.
Experience developing governance frameworks for generative AI, low-code platforms, collaboration technologies, and enterprise productivity capabilities.
Experience with mergers, acquisitions, tenant consolidation, platform rationalization, infrastructure transformation, global delivery center models, or managed service transitions.
Experience building scalable playbooks, product ownership models, adoption scorecards, governance routines, and partner performance scorecards.
Experience operating in a professional services, consulting, accounting, or complex global enterprise environment.
Microsoft 365, Copilot, Cowork, cloud, identity, and workplace platform investments show measurable adoption, utilisation, productivity, and value realisation improvements.
Cloud modernisation, infrastructure transformation, automation, and platform engineering capabilities progress against approved roadmap priorities.
