Flipdish is seeking a skilled and experienced Field Engineer to join our team. You'll be responsible for implementing and configuring our restaurant technology solutions on-site — ensuring hardware and software are installed correctly, and that restaurant teams feel confident using the system. This role requires strong technical capability (including cable running and terminating), clear communication, and the ability to work independently while partnering closely with internal teams.
You will need a full, clean driving licence to be considered for this position.
- Own end-to-end on-site implementations of Flipdish solutions, ensuring hardware and software are installed and configured correctly.
- Build deep product knowledge (accounts, configurations, workflows) so you can tailor setups to each restaurant's needs.
- Deliver clear on-site training and practical support so restaurant teams can adopt Flipdish confidently.
- Troubleshoot hardware/technical issues on-site; escalate appropriately and keep customers informed throughout.
- Partner with the Onboarding team to plan work, manage timelines, and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Keep accurate records of installs, customer interactions, and issues; provide regular, clear updates to the team.
- Challenge poor decisions and propose better ways of working. Constructive challenge is a responsibility - prioritising harmony over truth or progress is a failure of responsibility.
- Customer sites are installed smoothly, safely, and to a consistent quality bar (hardware + software correctly configured).
- Restaurant staff leave implementations confident and capable (clear training, minimal follow-up needed).
- Technical issues are diagnosed quickly, documented well, and resolved with high customer trust.
- Implementations run on time with strong internal coordination (especially with Onboarding).
- You proactively spot patterns and improvements that raise the quality and efficiency of installations over time.
You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Have 1–3 years in a hands-on field engineer / service engineer role (or equivalent practical experience)
- Can demonstrate proven ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot customer-facing hardware/software on-site
- Posess strong communication and stakeholder management
- Take high ownership: you don't wait to be told what to do
- Challenge poor decisions and propose better ways of working.
The following would help you stand out.
- Experience running and terminating cable, drilling/mounting equipment safely
- Familiarity with POS / payments / printer setups in hospitality environments
- Experience training customers/staff on-site during implementations
