PM Group wishes to appoint a Mechanical Services Department Manager in the Dublin office to support continued growth in the Pharmaceutical, Food, Mission Critical, MedTech and Commercial sectors.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Mechanical Services Department Manager is responsible for the leadership and development of the Mechanical Services Department and for supporting the successful delivery of projects across the business.
The role combines department management, project oversight, resource planning, bid support and technical review activities. The successful candidate will provide direction to the department, maintain technical standards, support project teams and work closely with other departments to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality.
The role requires broad experience across HVAC, utilities, plumbing and public health, and fire protection systems within pharmaceutical, food, mission critical, laboratory and commercial projects.

Department Management

Lead and develop the Mechanical Services Department.

Manage departmental workload and resource planning.

Recruit, develop and retain department personnel.

Support graduate development, mentoring and professional progression.

Conduct performance reviews and support individual development plans.

Promote consistent ways of working across the department.

Maintain department procedures, templates and guidance documents.

Support cooperation between offices and project teams.

Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
Project Delivery
-
Provide oversight of Mechanical Services activities on projects.

Support project teams during project setup and execution.
-
Participate in key project reviews and design reviews.
-
Review project progress, resourcing and delivery risks.

Support resolution of technical and delivery challenges.
-
Ensure Mechanical Services activities are coordinated with other disciplines.
-
Act as Mechanical Services Lead on selected projects where required.
Bids and Business Development
-
Support proposal and business development activities.
-
Contribute to project scopes, deliverables and execution strategies.

Prepare resource plans and input to project estimates.
-
Identify key project risks and delivery considerations during bid stages.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
-
Support the development of future opportunities across PM Group sectors.
Technical Leadership
-
Provide technical guidance and support across the department.

Maintain oversight of technical quality and consistency.

Support the development of subject matter expertise within the discipline.

Participate in reviews at Concept, Basis of Design and key project stages.

Promote practical and efficient engineering solutions.

Support the adoption of new technologies, tools and industry developments.

Encourage knowledge sharing and lessons learned between projects.
Quality, Safety and Continuous Improvement
-
Promote safe design principles throughout project delivery.

Ensure compliance with company procedures and quality requirements.

Monitor the quality of Mechanical Services deliverables.

Lead department technical reviews and project health checks.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and project execution.
-
Support the ongoing development of standards, procedures and work practices.
Interdisciplinary Coordination
-
Work closely with other engineering disciplines and project teams.

Support coordination between design, project management, procurement, construction and commissioning functions.

Engage with vendors, clients and stakeholders as required.

Promote effective communication and collaboration across projects and offices.

- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.

Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
-
Minimum 15 years' relevant experience in engineering project delivery.

Experience leading Mechanical or Building Services teams within a design or project delivery environment.
-
Experience working within pharmaceutical, food, mission critical, laboratory or commercial projects.
-
Proven experience supporting bids, project planning and resource management.
-
Experience managing multidisciplinary project interfaces and project delivery activities.

The role is primarily office based but will require occasional visits to project sites and travel to other PM Group offices as required.
