This is a senior, visible role requiring a technically accomplished qualified accountant who can combine rigorous financial reporting expertise with strong leadership, clear communication and effective stakeholder management. The successful candidate will own the delivery of high-quality statutory financial statements and audits, provide technical accounting guidance, develop a high-performing team and drive a scalable, well-controlled statutory reporting operating model across the Group.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end preparation and review of the Group consolidated financial statements, including consolidation adjustments, eliminations, disclosures and supporting technical papers.
- Lead the end-to-end preparation, review and timely filing of local statutory financial statements and regulatory reporting requirements for the Group’s subsidiaries across EMEA, North America and Australasia.
- Own the Group statutory reporting calendar, establishing clear accountabilities, milestones and quality standards, proactively escalating risks and ensuring delivery against all filing deadlines.
- Lead the Group’s statutory audit programme, acting as a senior point of contact for external auditors, coordinating finance teams and advisors across jurisdictions, and ensuring issues are resolved promptly with no surprises.
- Ensure compliance with FRS 102, local GAAP, company law and other relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, maintaining strong governance and audit-ready documentation across the Group.
- Provide clear, practical and commercially balanced technical accounting advice on complex matters, including business combinations, acquisition accounting, consolidations, intercompany arrangements, foreign currency, revenue recognition and group restructurings.
- Build trusted relationships with senior finance leaders, local management teams, Tax, Legal, Treasury and external advisors; communicate technical conclusions and key reporting risks clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
- Lead, coach and develop the statutory accounting team, setting clear priorities, strengthening technical capability, promoting accountability and creating an inclusive, high-performance culture.
- Support acquisitions, due diligence, legal entity integrations, reorganisations and other strategic initiatives, ensuring statutory reporting and technical accounting implications are identified and addressed early.
- Lead AI-enabled continuous improvement across statutory reporting and audit processes, identifying and implementing practical use cases in areas such as data validation, reconciliations, disclosure preparation, technical research, audit support and workflow management.
- Maintain and enhance Group accounting policies, reporting templates and control documentation to create a consistent and scalable framework across all jurisdictions.
Experience and qualifications:
- Public practice trained and fully qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent), with post-qualification experience in statutory reporting, audit or technical accounting preferable.
- Proven experience leading multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction statutory reporting and external audit processes within a complex international group; technology or SaaS sector experience is advantageous.
- Strong technical command of IFRS and FRS 102, with practical experience in complex areas such as business combinations, consolidation accounting, intercompany arrangements and financial statement disclosures.
- Demonstrable people leadership experience, with the ability to set direction, manage competing priorities, coach team members and hold others accountable for high-quality delivery.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex accounting matters into concise recommendations and influence senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.
- Strong project and change management capability, with a track record of delivering complex reporting programmes to demanding deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and sound judgement.
- Commercially minded, resilient and solutions-focused, with the confidence to challenge constructively, make decisions and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office capability; experience with NetSuite, consolidation or statutory reporting tools, workflow automation and data analytics is advantageous.
- Strong AI literacy and a continuous improvement mindset, with practical experience using generative AI, automation or analytics tools to redesign finance processes and deliver measurable efficiency and quality improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technology-enabled change, engage colleagues in new ways of working and translate innovative ideas into sustainable, controlled finance solutions.
