About Phorest

Would you like to create the future of a product used by thousands of businesses and millions of consumers? Phorest Salon Software powers over 11,000 hair and beauty salons in Ireland, UK, Germany, Australia, Finland, USA, Canada, UAE and Netherlands and the platform processes 7 million appointments a month for hair and beauty consumers. Phorest is the number 1 salon software brand for premium independent salons in those markets and our next goal is to become a platform upon which other companies can build applications for premium salons.

Our system touches every point of the salon experience. We have the in-salon software desktop application, Phorest Go (the native staff application), online bookings website for salons, and custom native apps per salon. In a typical month, Phorest processes 3 million appointments and we send over 3 million SMS and 4 million emails. We process 200k online bookings per month and over 150 custom built white label native apps.

The Opportunity

Quality is critical within the company to ensure customer satisfaction and retention, driving growth, and helping clients extract maximum value from our products.

We are looking for a QA Engineer (6 month maternity cover) to join our Reporting team within the Salon Ops pillar. This group builds and runs the core salon workflows that keep salons operating smoothly day to day. It’s made up of cross‑functional teams including Front of House, Phorest Go, Salon Management, and Integrations & Partnerships.

You will be a key member of the new Reporting team, automating test suits and bulletproofing the future of our world-class e-commerce products. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants a new challenge, where you’ll bring your experience to a supportive, growth mindset environment that will enable us to achieve our goals.

What You'll Do

Be hands on testing new features and performing regression tests for various services
- Design, develop and execute both manual and automated tests to verify the functionality of the system
- Develop regression automated test suites
- Identify, report and track issues to resolution
- Help developers reproduce errors, and ensure that defects are fixed
Work closely with product managers, designers and developers
- Participate in stand ups, plannings, backlog sessions etc. for team’s projects
- Be responsible for signing off the feature to be released
- Analyse features during the design and development process to point out weaknesses or ambiguities
- Create test plans and overall be responsible for test management
- Review stories and create bugs when needed
Be a quality advocate on the team ensuring quality is a responsibility for all members of the team
Never stop learning, pursue latest technologies, seek for best solutions
Challenge the norm and won’t be afraid to voice your opinions

Who You Are:

What We’re Looking For:

2+ years experience in software quality assurance
Excellent manual testing skills and out-of-the-box ad hoc testing skills.
Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
Experience with Agile development methodologies and working in a cross-functional team environment
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Curious mindset & detail oriented

Nice To Have:

An ISTQB Foundation Level certificate
Automation testing experience
Experience using Cypress and/or Playwright to write automated tests
Experience with Looker CI features and validators a bonus
Knowledge of CI/CD process and how testing can be brought in there
Github experience
Performance and security testing experience or interest
Experience working in the salon or beauty industry
