Cities & Places
At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.
Your impact
With approximately £14 billion in annual revenue and a global team of nearly 40,000 people, Jacobs delivers end‑to‑end services across cities and places, energy, environmental, life sciences, transportation, advanced facilities and water. Through advisory and consulting, feasibility, planning, design, programme and lifecycle management, we are shaping a more connected, resilient and sustainable world by applying our collective expertise to solve complex challenges.
Our Cities & Places team in Ireland is seeking experienced Design Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering a diverse portfolio of civil and structural infrastructure projects. Working with key clients such as the Land Development Agency, National Transport Authority, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and local authorities, you will bring technical leadership, strong facilitation skills and commercial awareness to help translate client ambitions into high‑quality, buildable outcomes.
At Jacobs, Design Managers are central to project success. You will lead and coordinate multi‑disciplinary design teams, ensuring designs are fully integrated, fit for purpose and aligned with programme, cost and quality objectives. By fostering a collaborative and inclusive working environment, you will enable teams to perform at their best, balancing technical excellence with efficient delivery.
You will also work closely with clients to understand their needs, challenge assumptions where appropriate and develop solutions that create long‑term value. In many cases, you will also engage directly with contractors, providing technical assurance and supporting effective decision‑making throughout the delivery lifecycle. Your ability to connect people, simplify complexity and maintain a clear focus on outcomes will be key to driving successful results.
We are looking for individuals who combine strong technical capability with well‑rounded project management and coordination skills. As a Design Manager at Jacobs, you will be a confident communicator and trusted collaborator, capable of bringing together diverse stakeholders with sometimes competing priorities.
You will be comfortable presenting ideas, evaluating alternatives and clearly articulating progress, risks and mitigation strategies, helping our clients and teams move forward with confidence.
- In return, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on nationally significant infrastructure projects, contribute to a collaborative and values‑driven culture, and grow your career at a global organisation committed to innovation, professional development and delivering solutions that matter.
Here's what you'll need
Degree‑qualified engineer with chartered status (or actively working towards it).
Strong Design Management experience across infrastructure projects, including transport, development and housing, leading multi‑disciplinary teams.
Confident working autonomously, with the ability to build effective relationships across complex stakeholder environments.
Solid working knowledge of BIM delivery and experience using tools such as Revizto, Navisworks, AutoCAD, P6 / MS Project and information management systems.
Proven experience managing commercial, contractual and programme elements of project delivery.
- This role is offered on a hybrid‑working basis (2 days/ week) , with flexibility to be based from our Dublin or Cork offices.
Full‑time employment at Jacobs is based on a 40‑hour working week. We place a strong emphasis on work‑life balance and flexibility, and flexi time is available.
The ability to obtain SC‑level security clearance would be considered an advantage.
