Role Profile

Blackrock Health is in the process of a major Electronic Health Record (EHR) transformation programme across all Blackrock Health facilities.
-
The Technical Interfacing Lead, with the support of a small core team, will be responsible for analysing, managing and delivering several 3rd party interface implementations for Blackrock Health. This will include integration between both internal and external ICT systems to Blackrock Health sites.

The candidate will be a hands-on and experienced HL7 integration specialist, with technical analysis, interface development and technical documentation experience along with excellent organisational and communication skills.

The post will manage a small team of integration analysts as well as liaising with a number of resources from the vendor(s) side.
Key Responsibilities
-
Managing a project plan, to include tasks and estimations, for the Interfacing Core Team. Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.

Developing, in co-ordination with 3rd party application vendors, new 3rd party interfaces

Driving the technical analysis of new requirements - supporting the team in gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing documentation.

Working closely with EHR Core Team leads/Project Managers, SMEs and internal/external technical resources.

Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements.

Supporting testing activities and investigation/resolution of any interfacing issues that arise.

Managing competing resources and priorities.

Monitoring deliverables and ensuring timely completion of tasks.

Follow Blackrock Health Group agreed IT security standards.
- Be a point of escalation for complex integration-based issues.
Background & Experience
-
A professional/post-graduate qualification in a relevant technical discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology or Electronic Engineering and 3+ years post qualification experience in the same or a similar and relevant role OR implementation experience (in a similar healthcare setting) of Meditech EHR, in a lead or management role

Healthcare industry experience preferable, and particularly Meditech interfacing experience.
- In depth knowledge and experience of HL7 standards.

Hands on experience in implementing and modifying HL7 interfaces, ideally within the Consensus Conductor integration engine.

In depth knowledge and experience in managing interface engines.

Hands on experience in interface engine coding to modify HL7 input and output messages to suit integration requirements when standard interfaces specs are not sufficient.

Comprehensive knowledge in generating technical documentation.

Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills.

Detail oriented, analytical, and inquisitive.

Ability to work independently and with others.

Extremely organised with strong time-management skills.

Comfortable working in a healthcare setting with competing priorities and demands on resources.
