The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tax Director to join Azets Ireland. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of domestic and international clients across a range of sectors — including technology, healthcare, retail, consumer markets, hospitality, entertainment, and fast-growing start-ups. You will act as a trusted advisor, providing expert consultancy and high-level tax advice while ensuring the continued growth and success of the tax practice. You will lead, inspire, and develop a talented team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional client service and technical excellence. The Tax Director will also play a key role in business development and the strategic direction of the tax department, contributing to the continued expansion of Azets Ireland. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced tax professional to take a leading role in a dynamic, growing, and people-focused firm.
Key accountabilities
As a Tax Director at Azets, you will: Client Leadership & Advisory · Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering strategic tax advice and high-quality consultancy services. · Build and maintain trusted client relationships, acting as a key advisor on complex tax matters. · Oversee tax compliance and advisory work, ensuring accuracy, technical excellence, and timely delivery. · Provide innovative, commercially focused tax planning and structuring solutions to support clients’ growth and business objectives. Business Development & Growth · Drive business development initiatives to expand Azets Ireland’s tax practice. · Identify and convert opportunities within existing and new client relationships. · Enhance Azets’ market profile through networking, thought leadership, and professional representation. · Contribute to firmwide strategic planning and growth initiatives. Leadership & Team Management · Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing tax team, fostering collaboration and professional development. · Allocate work effectively, maintaining high performance standards and ensuring a balanced workload across the team. · Encourage continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the department. · Uphold Azets’ values and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture. Technical & Strategic Excellence · Maintain expert knowledge of Irish and international tax legislation, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of tax developments. · Review complex technical work, providing clear guidance and oversight. · Collaborate with other service lines (audit, advisory, corporate finance) to deliver integrated solutions for clients. · Support innovation in tax processes and technology to enhance efficiency and client service delivery.
Skills & experience
• CTA / CTC qualified (or equivalent). • Extensive post-qualification experience in tax advisory and compliance within a professional services environment. • Proven leadership and people management experience within a tax function. • Strong business development and client relationship management skills. • Excellent technical expertise across Irish and international tax. • Strategic mindset with the ability to influence and drive growth initiatives. • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. • A collaborative, dynamic, and forward-thinking approach aligned with Azets’ values.
