Galetech Group is an Irish-owned renewable energy and sustainable development group with over 25 years of experience delivering complex infrastructure, energy, and development projects. Operating across Ireland, the UK, and international markets, the Group brings together specialist expertise in renewable energy, residential development, planning, engineering, and project delivery.

As part of the Group's continued growth in sustainable housing delivery, Galetech Group is seeking a Senior Executive Planner to join its in-house planning function. This role will support the progression of a growing portfolio of residential developments across Ireland, working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation, coordination, and management of residential planning applications, including Large-scale Residential Developments (LRD) and other housing consents. Working closely with development, design, and technical teams across the Group, the role will help drive projects through the planning process from early-stage strategy through to consent.

While the primary focus of the role is residential housing delivery, there will also be opportunities to contribute to planning initiatives across Galetech Group's wider renewable support services and infrastructure portfolio, offering valuable cross-sector exposure within a large and dynamic organisation.

This role is primarily Ireland-based, with flexible working arrangements available.

The Role

Lead and manage planning applications for residential developments in Ireland, including LRD and other housing schemes
Coordinate planning strategy for housing projects from pre-application through to determination
Liaise with local authorities, statutory consultees, design teams, and other stakeholders
Prepare, review, and oversee planning reports, planning statements, EIAR screening, and supporting documentation
Advise development teams on planning risk, policy compliance, and consenting strategy
Monitor and interpret national, regional, and local planning policy relevant to housing delivery
Support appeals and judicial review processes as required
Contribute to programme management and delivery across GSL's housing portfolio
Provide mentoring and technical support to junior planning staff as the in-house planning function develops
Where required, support renewable energy planning projects in collaboration with the wider Galetech Energy Services team

The ideal candidate will be a professionally qualified planner with strong experience in housing-led development in Ireland and a proven ability to manage complex residential planning applications.

Essential requirements:

IPI and/or RTPI-accredited planning qualification or demonstrable eligibility for membership (mandatory)
A relevant third-level qualification in planning or a related discipline
Typically 5-7 years' experience in the planning and delivery of residential development projects in Ireland
Demonstrable experience working on housing planning applications, including Large-scale Residential Developments (LRD) (or equivalent SHD experience)
Strong understanding of Irish housing policy, development management, and consenting processes
Experience working within a consultancy, developer, or local authority planning environment
Ability to manage applications independently and provide senior planning advice to project teams
Strong report-writing, analytical, and organisational skills
Confident engagement with planning authorities and statutory consultees
Experience advising on housing density, design standards, and policy compliance
Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and development teams
Interest in sustainable development and high-quality residential design
Flexibility to support renewable energy planning projects where required
Full clean EU driving licence and access to own transport

Please note: this is a professional planning role. Experience limited to project planning, engineering planning, or construction programming without a recognised IPI and/or RTPI-accredited planning qualification will not meet the requirements of this position.
