The Company
Echelon Data Centres was established in 2017 by the main principal of Aldgate Developments, a leading commercial property developer and owner of major commercial office buildings in Central London and Dublin. The objective was developing, operating, and owning a network of large-scale, responsibly designed, sustainably powered data centre campuses across the world to meet the rapidly expanding global demand for hyperscale data processing and storage solutions.
Echelon currently has seven data centre facilities either operational or in development across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Spain with a combined capacity of approximately 1.25GW. The recent acquisition of a prime 37-acre site in Italy, marks the next step of Echelon’s expansion into Continental Europe.
We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our function in our Site team by recruiting an experienced Electrical and IC Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to further their career in a highly motivated and inspirational environment.
The Role
Spans Power Delivery and Data Centre projects across campus builds; involved from design, procurement installation through to commissioning to final handover.
Lead and deliver all electrical and IC works across the Phase 3 Energy Center Project. Own the end-to-end electrical and IC lifecycle from procurement input, design input through construction, testing and handover, ensuring systems meet design intent, operational requirements, health safety and programme milestones, in close collaboration with Power Delivery, Engineering, Commissioning and Campus teams.
Responsibilities
Ensure full understanding of the Project Safety Plan and actively demonstrate commitment for the promotion and implementation of same.
Ensure full understanding of the Project Quality Plan and actively demonstrate a commitment to the promotion and implementation of same.
Provide electrical and IC technical specification input, own development of contractor scope of work document, contractor competency assessment for pre-award evaluation; review supplier/EPC technical proposals for compliance and constructability.
Collaborate with the Engineering Lead to review designs for constructability, access, maintainability and operational readiness; identify and resolve design gaps prior to IFC issuance.
Manage the scope of works across all electrical and IC scopes including equipment, cabling, instrumentation, fire systems, and specialty services. More specifically on a power delivery project, management of scopes of work associated with gas turbines/reciprocal engines, steam turbines, HRSG/OTSGs (Steam Generator/Boilers) associated BOP equipment, water treatment plant, cabling, associated cable racks, power management distribution systems and Plant Control Systems.
Manage on-site electrical and IC delivery—coordinate site teams and contractors, monitor workmanship quality, enforce HS and QA processes (implement and maintain QA checks, witness critical inspections, and assure compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specifications), and drive resolution of defects and technical queries (RFIs).
Develop and maintain the electrical and IC programme integrated with the overall project baseline; manage resource plans, subcontractor sequencing and critical-path activities.
Proactively manage interfaces with Power Delivery, civil, structural, EIC, IT/Comms, and architectural works to prevent clashes and rework.
Verify electrical and IC completion milestones and ensure documentation and check sheets are signed off and correctly inputted into the project software. Manage punch lists and ensure corrective actions are complete before pre-commissioning.
Oversee all pre-commissioning activities executed by the contractor (assembly, insulation continuity checks, calibrations and settings, and alignment of electrical and IC control systems), verify readiness of electrical and IC equipment for energization and startup.
Work with the Commissioning Lead to schedule and execute testing, provide input to FAT/SAT scripts, and deliver required test evidence for electrical and IC control equipment and as-built records. Lead functional and capability testing of the electrical and IC systems.
Ensure delivery of complete handover packs (as-built drawings, test certificates, maintenance manuals, spares lists) and support operations during acceptance and initial operations phase.
Provide input to risk register, implement mitigation plans for specific risks, escalate unresolved high-impact issues to the Project Manager.
Understand project costs, change order process, input in to technical variations with Commercial and Procurement, and support claims where required whilst actively helping to keep costs within budget.
Act as the primary electrical and IC point of contact for contractors, suppliers, internal stakeholders (Power Delivery, Engineering, Commissioning, Procurement, Operations, Campus Director) and external authorities as required.
Authorities Accountabilities
Accountable for delivery of the electrical and IC scope, quality and programme within the projects assigned.
Authority to review and accept contractor electrical and IC submittals and shop drawings within delegated limits; escalate major technical deviations for Engineering/Commercial approval.
Authority to issue site-level technical directives to electrical and IC contractors to prevent imminent safety, performance or quality risks, and to stop work where safety is compromised; escalate to project manager if unresolved.
Assist in providing pre-award electrical and IC competency assessments to Procurement/Commercial and for validating contractor mobilisation readiness.
Typical Deliverables
Electrical and IC scope of works and technical specifications for procurement inputs.
Electrical and IC Completion Certificates
IFC-aligned electrical and IC implementation schedules and resource plans.
