We are currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join a high performing windows and doors organisation in Cork. The business has been in operation for over 40 years and recently built on state of the showroom.
In this role, you will manage project costs, prepare accurate quotes, and ensure our projects stay on budget. You will work on both residential and commercial across the Munster region.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Tendering
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
- Measure and take off quantities accurately from plans.
- Prepare detailed, competitive, and timely cost estimates for window, door, and glazing packages.
- Send enquiries to suppliers and negotiate the best material prices.
- Prepare and submit professional tender proposals to clients.
Quantity Surveying
- Manage project budgets from initial award to final account.
- Value completed work and prepare interim valuations and payment applications.
- Manage variations, negotiate with main contractors, and resolve any disputes.
- Monitor project profitability and report on costs regularly.
- Attend site meetings and build strong relationships with clients, architects, and contractors.
Requirements :
Qualifications & Experience
- A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or strong work experience in a similar role.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in estimating or quantity surveying, ideally within the Irish construction industry.
- Previous experience with architectural glazing, windows, or doors is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations and construction standards.
Skills
- Excellent mathematical and IT skills (experience with estimating software is a plus).
- High attention to detail and ability to spot errors in plans or quantities.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and own transport (travel to sites in Cork/Munster required).
