Digital & Assistive Technology Lead – Inclusive Employment

(Senior Clinician)

Fixed Term Contract 12 months , 39 hours

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role to lead the delivery of DAT Works, Rehab Group’s Digital and Assistive Technology (DAT) service for inclusive employment, funded through the CREATE III Digital & Assistive Technology Fund, supporting disabled and autistic jobseekers and employees across National Learning Network, RehabCare, Rehab Enterprises and Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services to access, trial, and effectively use digital and assistive technologies as workplace enablers. This will involve conducting workplace accessibility audits and delivering person-centred assessments and interventions that enable individuals to participate fully and equitably in vocational training, work experience placements, and transitions to employment.

Minimum Education & Skills required

§ Hold a recognised qualification (NFQ Level 8 or above) in Occupational Therapy, Speech Be registered, or be eligible for registration, with the relevant statutory regulator and/or professional body for the post holder’s profession (e.g. the Occupational Therapists or Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU; the Psychological Society of Ireland for Psychologists).

§ Be eligible for a senior grade clinical position i.e., have at least three years’ satisfactory, full-time post-qualification experience practising in a relevant health and social care profession (e.g., Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy or Psychology).

§ Minimum two years working in roles involving digital & assistive technology, vocational rehabilitation, disability services, or employment support.

§ Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of assistive technologies and their application for communication, independent living, education, and employment, including both low-tech and high-tech AAC systems, access methods, mainstream accessibility tools, and specialist software.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

§ DAT Assessment & Direct Service Delivery – Conduct person-centred digital and assistive technology assessments for service users attending RehabCare, students attending NLN, and disabled and autistic employees of Rehab Enterprises who are preparing for, transitioning to, or participating in, employment. Recommend, implement and, support tailored assistive technology solutions, undertake workplace accessibility audits and provide guidance, equipment management and troubleshooting to enable successful workplace participation.

§ Employer Engagement & Capacity Building – Work with employers offering work experience placements and job opportunities to build their capacity and confidence in supporting AT use and inclusive employment. Advise on reasonable accommodations, digital accessibility and the practical application of AT in the workplace. Support employers to access Work and Access and other grants to sustain inclusion beyond the grant period. Develop and deliver employer-facing training on AT and inclusive recruitment and retention.

Additional requirements

§ Staff Training & Organisational Capacity Building – Develop and deliver training and capacity-building for Rehab’s staff which embeds AT competence across Rehab’s vocational training and employment support services. Co-create micro-trainings and case studies with disabled and autistic people and employers to support successful work placements and sustainable employment.

§ Project Delivery, Reporting & Evaluation – Manage the delivery of DAT Works project outputs to the timelines and standards set out in the CREATE III funding agreement. Prepare progress reports for internal stakeholders and the CREATE III funder. Apply standardised qualitative & quantitative outcome-measurement tools (e.g. QUEST, Goal Attainment Scaling) to evaluate impact on employment outcomes and employer practice, and collaborate with a university research partner to evaluate DAT Works from both jobseeker and employer perspectives.
