Job Description:
At Cloudera, we empower people to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. With as much data under management as the hyperscalers, we're the preferred data partner for the top companies in almost every industry. Powered by the relentless innovation of the open source community, Cloudera advances digital transformation for the world’s largest enterprises.
Join the IT Infrastructure team, where we provide the foundational technology that powers our entire organization. Our group is dedicated to operational excellence, ensuring our infrastructure is visible, manageable, and optimized. We are currently moving beyond basic asset tracking toward a proactive, service-aware ecosystem, using the ServiceNow CMDB as the central nervous system for our global technology strategy.
We are seeking a Staff IT Asset Architect (IC4) to serve as the lead designer and strategist for our global Asset Management programme. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role spanning the full breadth of our technology estate: endpoints, data centre infrastructure, cloud accounts and subscriptions, applications, and business services.
You will build on our existing asset tracking foundations, working to identify gaps in coverage, data quality, and process maturity, and drive a clear roadmap to accelerate the programme toward a fully governed, automated, and business-aligned state.
Working across IT Infrastructure, InfoSec, Finance, and Cloud Operations, you will establish the standards, workflows, and integrations that make our asset data trustworthy and actionable at every level of the business.
This role is not eligible for sponsorship or relocation.
As a Staff IT Asset Architect you will:
Architectural Strategy: Lead the design and evolution of our asset and configuration management architecture within ServiceNow, ensuring it scales to cover all asset classes and supports both technical operations and business service visibility.
Taxonomy & Governance Design: Define and own the enterprise asset tagging and metadata standards. Establish the policies that govern how assets are registered, classified, and decommissioned across business units, ensuring consistency from endpoint to cloud account.
Strategic Integration: Design and oversee integrations between ServiceNow and external systems including AWS, Azure, GCP, FinOps tooling, security scanners, and endpoint management platforms. Ensure a reliable, multi-source reconciliation model that keeps data accurate and current.
Full-Spectrum Asset Lifecycle: Ensure end-to-end lifecycle visibility across all asset classes: physical endpoints, data centre hardware (compute nodes, switches, racks, cabling), cloud accounts and subscriptions, SaaS applications, and internal services.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the primary bridge between Infrastructure, InfoSec, Finance, and Cloud Operations. Design the workflows, standards, and governance frameworks that these teams use to manage risk, control spend, and maintain compliance. You will lead through influence and expertise rather than direct authority.
Automation Roadmap: Drive the organisation towards autonomous asset management. Design self-healing workflows and automated discovery processes that reduce manual effort and proactively correct data quality issues.
Service Mapping & Dependency Visibility: Lead service mapping initiatives for critical applications, ensuring full visibility into upstream and downstream dependencies to support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Executive Reporting & CMDB Health: Develop KPIs and observability frameworks that communicate asset programme health, infrastructure risk, and financial exposure to VP and C-suite stakeholders in clear business terms.
We are excited if you have (Required Experience):
Experience: 7+ years in IT Infrastructure or IT Asset Management, with at least 3 years in a lead or architect capacity. Demonstrated experience operating across multiple asset domains, including physical infrastructure, cloud, and application portfolios.
Education: Bsc/Msc in related field or equivalent experience.
Governance & Standards: Proven ability to design and enforce enterprise-wide asset governance frameworks, including tagging taxonomies, lifecycle policies, and data quality standards.
ServiceNow: Strong hands-on experience with the ServiceNow platform, including CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping capabilities. Familiarity with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) and asset lifecycle management within ServiceNow is expected. Ability to work at a technical level with platform configuration and integration design.
Cloud & Modern Infrastructure: Solid understanding of multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and how cloud-native resources, accounts, and subscriptions are managed as assets. Familiarity with containerised and ephemeral infrastructure.
Integration & Automation: Experience designing integrations between asset management platforms and external data sources. Comfortable working with APIs and automation tooling, with or without deep coding expertise.
Cross-Functional Influence: Demonstrated ability to drive adoption of standards and governance frameworks across teams where you hold influence rather than direct authority. Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Analytical Communication: Ability to translate complex infrastructure data into business risk and financial language for senior stakeholders.
You may also have:
ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in Discovery, Service Mapping, or Hardware Asset Management
ITIL v4 Managing Professional or Strategic Leader
FinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent cloud financial governance experience
