What we're looking for
We're looking for a Senior Product & Privacy Counsel to join SurveyMonkey's global Product & Privacy Legal team. Based in Dublin and reporting directly to our US-based Head of Product & Privacy, you will serve as the primary legal partner for our diverse Apps portfolio (including Wufoo, GetFeedback Digital, SurveyMonkey Apply, Audience, and LaunchPad), with the flexibility to adapt as our product ecosystem evolves.
In this role, you'll work hands-on with Product, Engineering, Design, Security, and Marketing teams to build and launch trusted, user-centric products at scale.
This role is a perfect fit if you are energized by getting close to the technology, understanding how data flows, and translating complex global regulations into actionable business solutions. If you enjoy driving projects from concept to execution in a fast-moving, collaborative environment, we would love to meet you.
What you'll be working on
- Product Partnership: Partner directly with product and engineering teams from ideation to launch, shaping features, integrations, and user experiences across our Apps portfolio.
- Holistic Product Reviews: Lead comprehensive legal reviews that span privacy, data protection, consumer rights, intellectual property, product claims, and security-adjacent issues.
- Privacy-by-Design Execution: Drive end-to-end privacy compliance, including managing DPIAs, LIAs, TIAs, vendor reviews, international data transfers, and data lifecycle management (collection through deletion).
- Regulatory Translation: Proactively track and demystify shifting privacy, AI, and platform regulations across Europe, India, the U.S., and other key markets, turning complex laws into clear product requirements and playbooks.
- Scalable Enablement: Draft and maintain transparent product terms, privacy notices, and customer-facing FAQs while building scalable review processes, templates, and training to empower our global teams.
We'd love to hear from people with
- Relevant Experience: 6+ years of PQE (or equivalent legal experience), with a proven track record in-house supporting fast-paced SaaS, digital product, or technology teams across both B2B and B2C spaces.
- Credentials: Qualified to practice law in Ireland or the UK. A professional privacy certification (such as CIPP/E) is a distinct plus, but not required.
- Practical Privacy & Product Judgment: Strong experience embedded with technical teams, handling privacy-by-design, data mapping, and DPAs, alongside a solid grasp of IP, marketing, and go-to-market legal issues.
- Global Regulatory Fluency: A deep working knowledge of GDPR, ePrivacy, cross-border transfer mechanisms, and emerging data/AI frameworks across Europe and global markets.
- Collaborative Communication: The ability to speak the same language as engineers and developers, translate legal risk into clear business next-steps, and thrive as an autonomous member of a global team.
SurveyMonkey believes in-person collaboration is valuable for building relationships, fostering community, and enhancing our speed and execution in problem-solving and decision-making. As such, you will be required to work from our Dublin office up to 1 day per week.
