What We're Looking For:
At Datavant, we value engineers who enjoy solving problems, building products, and applying strong software engineering principles to create meaningful solutions. As a Software Engineer, you will play an important role in growing and improving our healthcare data ecosystem for clients.
Don't know our tech stack well? That's okay. We believe technology is a tool for solving problems, and we value adaptability, curiosity, and engineering fundamentals over experience with a specific set of technologies.
You'll contribute across the software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through deployment and support, while collaborating closely with teammates and learning from experienced engineers. What You Need to Succeed:
- 3-5+ years of experience writing production-ready code, participating in code reviews, and contributing to the design and development of software applications.
- Experience developing applications using modern programming languages such as Python and JavaScript/TypeScript (including React).
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, with the ability to write and optimise queries.
- Experience building scalable applications, data pipelines, or data processing workflows.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and contribute to a positive engineering culture.
- Experience contributing to projects, supporting migrations, and delivering meaningful outcomes.
- Enthusiasm for learning, continuous improvement, and Datavant's mission of connecting health data to improve patient outcomes.
While not required, experience with some of the following technologies and domains may help you ramp up more quickly:
Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, AWS Marketplace, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, GitHub Actions
Data & Analytics: Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Spark, Polars
Web & Backend: Flask, scalable API development
Platforms: Building and deploying software on Windows, Mac, and Linux
Domain Experience: Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, healthcare data, HIPAA, and data privacy
Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
