Location: North Dublin Community Support Team – Day Roster, Monday-Sunday
Salary Range: €37,096 – €53,674 per annum.
Salary Growth: Sector-wide pay agreement will provide for a 2% increase from the 1st of April 2026 + Premium Payments!

About the Role

We are currently looking to hire a Social Care Worker/Autism Practitioner for our Community Support Services in North Dublin. This is a Monday to Sunday, day roster.

The people we support across these locations are living in their community homes and are interested in partaking in social activities and events within their neighbourhood and community. The ideal candidate for this position will be proactive and imaginative when it comes to service provision. Excellent report writing skills, experience, and the ability to work on your own initiative are a must.

Staff must have the awareness and skillset to support those who experience sensory differences, therefore, enabling them to maximise their experiences both within their own home and the community. Staff are required to promote the wellbeing of all those supported, across all locations ensuring that they achieve a high quality of life while working under HIQA guidelines and standards. You will enjoy encouraging the people you support to progress at their own pace and according to their own needs. You will be innovative in your ideas and solutions and work in partnership with the people receiving support to facilitate them to build life reflective of their individual hopes and aspirations.

Practitioners will be expected to produce, implement and evaluate practical resources and strategies to support a person with Autism’s communication and thinking, alongside assessment documentation for social, healthcare and personal development. Staff will also maintain a comprehensive understanding of the working file/support plan and supporting tools ensuring that details collated are of value and then utilised to support and develop progress plans.

It is a priority for the people you will be supporting that you maximise their opportunities to live a life that is reflective of their values. It is critical to think about dignity pathways from the person receiving support perspective. Dignity to the people receiving support means the kind of support provided, in any setting or circumstances which supports and promotes, the person’s right to privacy, autonomy and self-worth.

The Community Support Team (CST) focus on building a trusting and non-judgmental relationship with the individual. Recognising that the individual has legal capacity to make decisions regarding their day-to-day life, the CST will work in partnership with the person to promote increased autonomy and agency over their life.

The CST services can be provided at the place of residence of the individual, or in the community, with the individual commuting to the sessional supports depending on the individual’s will and preference. Building rapport and establishing a trusting relationship between the CST and the individual is central to fostering a collaborative alliance.

The CST works in partnership and alliance with the individual to build a quality support framework. This process is always carried out ‘with’ the person and not ‘for’ the person. The CST acknowledges that each person is best placed to direct their own support in a way that pays reverence to the person’s rights, dignity and decision-making capacity. Co-production methodologies are used so that sustainable support is developed with the individual that includes both paid and unpaid supports.

A key feature of the CST model of support is to nurture meaningful connections and friendships and to support the person to enhance their sense of belonging. The CST plays a key role in supporting the person to build their supportive network, promoting active citizenship, embracing diversity, and promoting neuroinclusive opportunities aligned to the individual’s will and preference.

A full, clean driving licence is required for this position.

Essential Qualifications:

Level 7 qualification in Social Care/Studies from an accredited institution, OR
A recognised qualification equivalent to the Irish Level 7 award (NARIC), OR
Relevant third-level degree in social work, psychology, or allied health, OR
Post-graduate qualification in Autism Studies.

Essential Criteria:

Excellent communication and engagement skills.
At least one year of recent experience in a similar role.
Ability to promote independence in individuals with support needs.
A full, clean driving licence.
A thorough understanding of HIQA regulations.

Desirable Criteria:

Experience supporting individuals with ASD and knowledge of autism.
Experience in case management.
Eligibility for CORU Registration.
