As part of the Product Team dedicated to Engineering Platform, the Technical Writer will:
Translate intricate technical ideas into clear, concise, and actionable content for diverse audiences, including developers, operations teams, and business partners.
Develop and maintain documentation assets such as platform user guides, API references, onboarding materials, governance standards, and procedures.
Collaborate closely with product owners, engineers, and governance teams to ensure documentation reflects current architecture, policies, and compliance requirements.
Champion consistency and accessibility in technical communication, aligning with Bank of Ireland's standards and regulatory obligations.
Support platform adoption and self-service by creating content that empowers teams to use tools like CI/CD pipelines, Microsoft Dev Boxes, Intune, and Entra under EUC governance.
This role is crucial for driving transparency, reducing friction in platform usage, and ensuring that engineering teams can deliver securely and efficiently within the Bank's governance framework.
Create and maintain accurate, up?'to?'date platform documentation across guides, onboarding, APIs, and governance.
Define a scalable documentation framework with consistent templates, style guides, and content standards.
Work with Product, Engineering, and Governance teams to translate technical details into clear content.
Develop onboarding and training materials and support internal communication of platform capabilities.
Use feedback and industry best practices to continually enhance documentation quality and usability.
Strong understanding of technical?'writing methodologies, with proven experience in software or cloud engineering environments.
Skilled in conveying complex technical concepts clearly for both technical and non?'technical audiences.
Proficient with documentation tools such as Confluence, Markdown, Wikis, SharePoint, and Git?'based workflows.
Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out but is not necessary in order to apply for this role;
Crafting and maintaining software documentation using a docs-as-code approach would be an advantage
Technical knowledge on GIT practices and scripting languages is a plus.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and automated delivery workflows.
Experience in financial services or regulated environments.

The Technical Writer plays a critical role in enabling clarity, consistency, and adoption of the Engineering Platform across Bank of Ireland. This role is responsible for creating high-quality, user-focused documentation that supports developers, engineers, and partners in demonstrating platform capabilities optimally and securely.
This is a hybrid role, based primarily in Dublin. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support teamwork and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
