Maintenance Operative
(Positions available from May– October annually)
The Maintenance Operative (“MO”) position at Hogs Head Golf Club (“HHGC”) is a wonderful opportunity to serve at one of the top private, resort golf clubs in the world. HHGC is seeking an experienced, dynamic and innovative “MO”. The “MO” will join the Facilities & Maintenance (FM) Team. The FM Team are responsible for the sound maintenance and upkeep of property assets and building infrastructure across the Hogs Head Campus – contributing to the world class golf experience we provide. The areas under management include The Lodge and Guest Cottages, Staff Houses, Golf Shed, Clubhouse and all external Plant Rooms and Storage Sheds. This position will work closely with and report directly to the Facilities Manager and General Manager of Hogs Head Golf Club. The successful candidate MUST possess the service gene and DNA — with a sincere and genuine desire to maintain the course at world-class quality and contribute to the ultimate experience for all HHGC Members and Guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
· We require a motivated, enthusiastic, well-rounded individual preferably with experience in a construction and maintenance environment. Have a passionate and pro-active attitude. Display a confident, professional and welcoming personality.
· The Maintenance Operative will work as part of the Facilities & Maintenance Team and will be called upon to carry out cleaning and washing duties and make repairs to guest rooms, public areas and back of house areas as necessary including The Lodge and Cottages, Staff Houses, Golf Shed, Clubhouse and all external Plant Rooms and Storage Sheds.
· Washing, power-hosing and cleaning works will constitute the bulk of tasks required. You will also assist the wider team in the carrying-out of Ongoing Preventive Maintenance requirements to all areas of the site.
· Work as part of a team to ensure all building systems are kept maintained and operational by performing routine maintenance on building equipment, HVAC, wiring and lighting, repairing or replacing broken or defective parts and fixtures, performing preventative maintenance services on all systems and equipment, and identifying and correcting defective or damaged systems assisting with any other maintenance needs at the buildings as needed.
· Assist in the operation and maintenance of hotel mechanical systems such as domestic water system, hot water systems, chilled water systems, filtration systems pool plant systems in Gail’s Spa Plant Room. Ensure all pool plant equipment is maintained in good working order and all necessary water quality checks and back washes are regularly completed.
· Maintains a safe work and storage area by cleaning and organizing designated storage area, storing tools and materials, repairing or replacing old or broken tools and equipment following established procedures, and following established safety standards while using tools and equipment.
· Respond to guest calls, complaints, and team member work orders in a timely, courteous and efficient manner to assess and repair non-functioning machinery and/or equipment.
· Carry out any other duty as deemed suitable by the Facilities Manager / General Manager / Maintenance Manager in pursuit of maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
· Have good communication skills. Ability to talk to and communicate with team members, Hotel & Golf Club Managers and Guests to the club. A good level of English is required for this role.
· Handle internal calls through Walkie Talkie radio for emergencies and guest related maintenance calls and requests.
· To identify and report hazards and maintenance requirements.
· Be computer literate with IT skills - as it will be a requirement to use our Maintenance Management Software, to check work orders and assignments, to sign-off on works completed.
· Work with 3rd Party contractors who visit the site – monitor their work ensure all works are carried out to the required standard.

· Be ready to work as part of a team but also comfortable to work independently.
· Physically active. This is a construction role and will require a level of physical activity in the carrying out of the role – such as lifting carrying, cleaning, washing, moving furniture and equipment etc. Assist with repairs as needed which may require climbing a ladder and/or working on a roof.
· Be friendly, outgoing and courteous in your dealings with both Guests and Staff members.
· Be immaculately groomed and exceptionally well presented. Must wear appropriate uniform and maintain personal cleanliness.
· Adhere to roster and time clocking policies. Report to work on time and adhere to posted shift schedule.
· Weekend work will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Previous experience as an Hotel Technician is preferred or comparable maintenance experience at an establishment such as apartment complex, office building, industrial or leisure complex. This includes strong general maintenance skills.
· Good understanding of plumbing, mechanical, HVAC systems and electrical systems.
· Prefer basic skills in reading prints, schematics, and equipment operations instructions.
· Familiarity with Maintenance IT Systems is desirable.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Experience in maintenance or building trades preferred.
· Ability to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding or use a man lift to work at heights up to 30 feet, often times reaching above head for extended periods of time.
· 2 years of experience working in maintenance and / or related field

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

- Required to walk or move to various locations within the property; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
- A noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
- Schedule must be flexible to include weekends and holidays.
