ROLE SUMMARY
The Afterschool Worker will support the delivery of YMCA Dublin’s school-age childcare provision,
helping to create a safe, inclusive and play-focused environment for primary school-aged children.

Working as part of the childcare team, the role will support children’s participation, wellbeing and
development through age-appropriate activities, daily routines and positive relationships. The role
will include supporting afterschool provision during term time and all-day provision during school
holiday periods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Desirable
Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Recognised qualification in Youth Work,
school-aged children in a regulated environment. Childcare or equivalent.
Knowledge of child development and playwork Relevant first aid and/or food safety

Good interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of relevant regulations and

Employment Details

Contract type: Permanent
Hours: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week during term
time, with 30 to 40 hours per week during school
holidays
Location: De Verdon Place, Malahide Road, Dublin
17, plus Parkside, Belmayne, Dublin 13
Start date: June 2026
