Retail Sales Assistant
Location: The Cooney Furlong Grain Co – Bosheen, New Ross, Co.Wexford

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Retail Sales Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will report to the Branch Manager and be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and technical advice to our customers. You will play a key role in selling a wide range of agricultural products such as animal feed, animal health products, dairy hygiene, hardware, and other farm supplies, while also supporting the day-to-day running of the store to ensure it operates efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a professional, friendly, and knowledgeable manner.
- Advise on all product ranges, including animal feed, fertilisers, chemicals, seeds, animal health products, and other farm supplies. Training and guidance will be provided for selling these products to ensure confidence and compliance.
- Process sales transactions accurately through our POS system.
- Create and process purchase orders as required, check and reconcile deliveries against orders, and complete receipt dockets accurately.
- Monitor and replenish stock levels, including shelf restocking and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised retail environment.
- Assist with merchandising, pricing, and promotional displays.
- Liaise with suppliers and staff regarding special orders or stock requirements.
- Support weighbridge operations during the harvest season, including weighing grain deliveries, recording transactions accurately, and assisting with customer queries while ensuring all documentation is completed correctly.
- Ensure all safety and compliance procedures are followed, including storage of chemicals and animal health products.
- Keep up-to-date with product knowledge and industry developments.
- Handle customer queries and complaints efficiently and professionally.
The Candidate
- Previous retail or customer service experience (ideally in an agri environment).
- Strong knowledge or background in agriculture or farming.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Basic IT skills (for till operation and stock control systems).
- Physically fit – capable of lifting and handling heavy items.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours (e.g. seasonal peaks).
