Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Planning, preparing and delivering lessons, including homework assignment and handouts to a range of classes and age groups in accordance to Liffey College and awarding body requirements and regulations.
- Maintaining up-to-date records and files on College management system, including receiving, retrieving and returning student assignments and replying to messages
- Preparing and setting tests, examination papers and exercises
- Marking and providing appropriate feedback on oral and written work
- Devising, writing and producing interesting and challenging materials for in-class use, including audio and visual resources
- Participating in college-wide social, cultural and educational activities such as sports competitions, school parties, trips and excursions
- Attending and contributing to training sessions and weekly meetings
- Attending and contributing to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions and study groups
- Preparing information for inspection visits and other quality assurance exercises
- Maintaining accurate records, including Record of Work and more
- Keeping student registers and attendance records and other basic academic-related admin tasks
- Planning, organising and preparing classes, including developing detailed lesson plans
- Managing classes they facilitate
Education and Experience:
- 1 - A major award at Level 7 (Degree) on the NFQ or equivalent
- 2 - A recognised English language teaching qualification:
- ELE teachers must have completed one of the following:
- (A) An English language teacher training programme of a minimum of 120 contact training hours’ duration, including a minimum of 6 full hours of observed and assessed teaching practice to ELE students and a minimum of 6 full hours of observation of experienced teachers, leading to an award which is validated by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).
- (B) An English language teacher training programme of a minimum of 120 contact training hours’ duration, including a minimum of 6 full hours of observed and assessed teaching practice to ELE students and a minimum of 6 full hours of observation of experienced teachers, leading to an award which is accredited by a national awarding body and which has a status in law or is otherwise recognised as having authority to make awards with national recognition. For example: TESOL by QQI / CELT by ACELS / CELTA by Cambridge / CertTESOL by Trinity College London
