Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal
The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.
Purpose of the Role
We’re looking for a passionate Technical Manager to join our organisation and play a key role in driving product performance, process excellence, and innovation within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-performing teams, influence how products are developed and delivered, and make a real impact in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams focused on improving product performance, yield, and manufacturing efficiency
Own and deliver complex projects from concept through to execution, balancing timelines, costs, and quality
Support the successful introduction of new products into manufacturing
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to resolve product, process, and testing challenges
Drive validation activities including protocols, trials, studies, and reporting across equipment, processes, and materials
Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards (e.g. FDA, BSI, internal policies)
Develop and grow your team through coaching, mentoring, and meaningful development opportunities
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement effective, data-driven solutions
Qualifications and Experience
A third-level qualification in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, or a related discipline
Experience within a life sciences, medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment
Proven leadership or supervisory experience, with a passion for developing people
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
A collaborative mindset and openness to different perspectives and ways of working
