The Role.
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Tool Operative to support the daily operation of our tool stores within a busy Civil Engineering and Utilities environment. This role involves issuing, receiving, inspecting, maintaining, and tracking tools and equipment to ensure they are available, safe, and fit for purpose.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate tool records, carrying out inspections, preparing tools for site teams, and ensuring compliance with company safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:

Issue and receive tools, equipment and small plant to site personnel.

Inspect tools for damage and ensure defective items are quarantined and reported.

Maintain accurate tool issue records and asset registers.

Carry out routine stock checks and inventory counts.

Prepare tools and equipment for collection and delivery to sites.

Keep the tool store clean, organised and secure.

Coordinate servicing, calibration and repairs of tools and equipment.

Load and unload deliveries safely.

Comply with all Health & Safety policies and PPE requirements.

Support yard and stores operations as required.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:
-
Experience working in a tool store, warehouse, construction yard or similar environment.

Good knowledge of hand tools, power tools and small plant used in construction/utilities.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
-
Ability to maintain accurate stock and issue records.
-
Good communication and teamwork skills.
-
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
-
Manual handling and forklift experience/certification is desirable.
-
A full clean driving licence is desirable.
