Production Team Leader
Job Purpose
The Production Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating daily production operations to ensure that manufacturing targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. The role involves supervising production staff, driving continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining compliance with health and safety requirements, and supporting the achievement of operational objectives within the brewery.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday ( Shift- early and Late rotating)
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Lead and coordinate daily production activities to ensure production schedules and targets are achieved.
- Monitor production performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce production costs without compromising product standards or operational performance.
- Work closely with management to plan, budget, and control production department activities.
- Ensure production processes are carried out in accordance with company procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor equipment and operational performance, escalating issues where necessary to minimise downtime.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture across the production team.
- Enforce all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure all employees wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safe working practices.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and address potential hazards promptly.
- Liaise with management to ensure appropriate safety equipment, security measures, and emergency response procedures are maintained and effective.
- Participate in accident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise, motivate, and support production team members to achieve departmental objectives.
- Conduct employee training and onboarding to ensure team members are competent in their roles.
- Assist with recruitment activities, including interviewing and selecting production personnel.
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and workforce scheduling to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Carry out regular performance reviews and provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
- Foster a positive working environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, food and beverage, or brewery production environment.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience within a production setting.
- Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet production deadlines.
