About Us
We are an established glulam installation company expanding into design, supply, and install services for glulam structures, alongside our existing modular homes business. As we grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our small, close-knit team and take ownership of cost estimating, pricing, and commercial management across our projects.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced QS who wants autonomy, variety, and a direct say in how the commercial side of a growing business is run — without the politics of a large consultancy or main contractor.
You'll be the company's main point of contact for all things cost and commercial, working closely with our directors and install teams.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Price design-and-build glulam packages, working from architectural/engineering drawings and specifications provided by our design subcontractors
- Estimate and cost modular home projects
- Prepare tender pricing, cost plans, and bills of quantities
- Source and compare supplier and material quotes
- Track project costs against budget and report on variances
- Manage variations, valuations, and subcontractor accounts
- Provide light project management support — keeping projects on track commercially, liaising with subcontractors and suppliers, and supporting the directors with scheduling and reporting
- Help build out our costing and estimating processes as the design-and-build side of the business grows
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor (typically 5+ years), ideally including time pricing design-and-build or specialist subcontractor packages
- Strong estimating skills — comfortable pricing directly from drawings/specs, not just measuring quantities
- Experience or strong interest in timber frame, glulam, offsite, or modular construction is a distinct advantage, though not essential
- Confident using Excel and standard estimating/cost tools
- Comfortable working independently in a small company, wearing more than one hat
- Good communication skills — you'll be dealing directly with suppliers, subcontractors, and our install teams
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline preferred
- SCSI/RICS membership is a nice-to-have, not a requirement
