Crust & Crumb Bakery Ltd is seeking a motivated and detail-focused Quality Controller to join our busy food manufacturing team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in a fast-paced production environment who takes pride in maintaining high standards of food safety, product quality and compliance.
About the Role
As Quality Controller, you will work closely with production, maintenance and hygiene teams to ensure all products meet customer, legal and internal quality standards. You will carry out routine checks across production, packing, storage and dispatch areas, support a positive food safety culture and help ensure compliance with HACCP and food hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and support a strong food safety culture across the site.
- Carry out hygiene, production, packing, storage and dispatch checks to ensure standards are maintained.
- Complete product assessments, in-process checks, weight checks, label checks, temperature checks and metal detection compliance checks.
- Monitor production paperwork, traceability records and quality documentation in line with SOPs.
- Identify and report non-conformances, foreign body risks and quality issues, supporting investigations and corrective actions.
- Collect and assess shelf-life samples and communicate findings to the relevant team members.
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate relevant QA, NPD and production information.
- Work in line with industry regulations and legislation, including HACCP, BRC and food hygiene standards.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced food manufacturing or production environment and will be confident completing quality checks and paperwork accurately. You will be reliable, self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative while communicating effectively with colleagues across the site.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience working within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
- Good attention to detail and ability to complete quality paperwork accurately.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good timekeeping, reliability and ability to work safely around machinery.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- A good level of written and spoken English.
Desirable
- Food hygiene certificate.
- Previous experience in the food sector or a production environment.
- Ability to work shifts.
