About the Opportunity
A market-leading contractor is seeking an ambitious
Electrical Engineer to join its project delivery team in Cork, initially supporting the successful delivery of a
€35M Life Sciences facility.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will assist in the technical coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of complex electrical systems within a highly regulated GMP environment. The Role - Electrical Engineer
As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the delivery of electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and programme requirements.
Working closely with Senior Engineers, Project Managers, Construction Managers, BIM Teams, QA/QC, Commissioning Engineers, Design Consultants, and Client Representatives, you will contribute to the successful delivery of critical electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer
- Support the delivery of electrical building services packages, including MV/LV distribution, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, lighting, small power, containment, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, BMS interfaces, and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, statutory regulations, and GMP requirements.
- Assist with design coordination, technical submittals, procurement support, equipment selection, value engineering, site inspections, installation monitoring, QA/QC activities, testing, commissioning, and project handover, while resolving technical queries and supporting efficient project execution.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, CSA, BIM, Commercial, Construction, and Commissioning teams to support design integration, construction sequencing, clash resolution, installation readiness, and successful project delivery.
- Monitor engineering progress, maintain accurate project documentation, support programme delivery, identify technical issues and project risks, and provide regular updates to senior engineering and project management teams.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement while developing technical knowledge and supporting the successful delivery of a flagship Life Sciences project.
Necessary Requirements of the Electrical Engineer
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline, with 3+ years' experience in an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer, Building Services Engineer, or Site Engineer role within Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Industrial, Semiconductor, Data Centre, or Mission-Critical Construction environments.
- Experience supporting the delivery of electrical systems, including MV/LV infrastructure, power distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, lighting, containment, BMS integration, testing, commissioning, and technical coordination within live construction projects.
- Strong understanding of design coordination, procurement, technical submittals, QA/QC, BIM coordination, project planning, commissioning, and electrical construction methodologies, with the ability to work effectively alongside clients, consultants, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience using AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks considered advantageous.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced project environment.
