Dixon Hempenstall Opticians are Dublin's longest-established independent opticians, based in the heart of the city on Suffolk Street, just off Grafton St.
We combine traditional standards of eye care with a carefully curated range of premium eyewear — including Tom Ford, Moscot, Nina Muir, Cutler & Gross, Blackfin — and a genuine focus on looking after each patient personally.

The role
We're looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join our team. You'll be the face of the practice for many of our patients — welcoming them, guiding them through frame and lens choices, and making sure every visit runs smoothly from booking to collection.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients and managing appointment bookings and reception
- Helping patients select frames and lenses, offering informed, styling-led advice
- Taking measurements and dispensing spectacles accurately
- Handling adjustments, repairs and collections
- Supporting the optometrist during clinics, including contact lens and dry eye appointments
- Keeping the practice presentable and stock well organised
- Processing payments and general day-to-day admin
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in an optical practice is essential
- Confident, warm manner and a strong eye for service & making customers feel appreciated.
- Good working knowledge of frames, lenses and dispensing
- Must be available for Saturday opening
- Comfortable with practice management software and general admin
- Reliable, well-presented and a genuine team player
- Interest in premium eyewear and styling is a real plus
- Fluent English is essential
