Heterochem (Dist.) Ltd is a family business established in 1982. We are a supplier of approved speciality chemicals, partnering a wide spectrum of industries spanning Life Science, Ingredients and Industrial.
We are seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager to drive growth within our Life Sciences division, developing new customer relationships and identifying opportunities across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and related sectors.
What are we looking for?
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities within the Life Sciences sector throughout Ireland.
The successful candidate will proactively target new accounts, develop strong relationships with purchasing, technical and operational stakeholders, and work closely with suppliers and internal teams to deliver commercially successful solutions.
This role is focused primarily on new business development, with account management support provided by the wider commercial team.
Your main responsibilities will include the following:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and related life science sectors
- Build and maintain a structured pipeline of prospective customers
- Develop and execute territory and target account plans
- Generate and attend customer meetings across Ireland
- Understand customer requirements and identify suitable products and solutions
- Work with suppliers and internal technical resources to support customer opportunities
- Deliver quotations, proposals and presentations
- Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle from lead generation through to conversion
- Attend relevant industry exhibitions, networking events and trade conferences
- Maintain CRM records and provide accurate pipeline forecasting
- Monitor market activity, competitor developments and industry trends
- Work collaboratively with internal sales, customer service and supplier partners
Experience & Skills Required
Essential
- Proven track record in business development and winning new business
- Experience selling into life sciences sectors including pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory or medical device industries
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Commercial awareness with a focus on profitable growth
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Full clean driving licence
- Strong organisational and CRM skills
Desirable
- Experience within chemical distribution, ingredients or technical sales
- Scientific qualification (Chemistry, Life Sciences, Biotechnology or related discipline)
- Existing network within the Irish life sciences sector
- Understanding of regulatory and quality requirements relevant to life sciences industries
