About the Role
Laois Scaffolding Hire Ltd. is seeking an experienced and technically minded Scaffolding Designer / Design Technician to join our growing team working across the Leinster region with offices in Co. Wexford and Co. Laois.
Working as part of our design and technical function, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and practical scaffolding designs and drawings for a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects across Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in scaffolding design, temporary works or construction design who is looking to develop their career within an established and expanding scaffolding company.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing 2D and 3D scaffolding designs and construction drawings using CAD.
- Producing drawings, layouts, elevations and details for scaffolding and temporary works.
- Reviewing project requirements and developing safe and practical access solutions.
- Working closely with site teams, project managers, clients and engineers.
- Carrying out site visits and surveys where required.
- Preparing design documentation, calculations and material/component schedules as required.
- Reviewing designs to ensure they are practical, economical and compliant with relevant standards.
- Supporting the technical team with tenders and project enquiries.
- Assisting with design revisions and responding to site requirements throughout projects.
- Ensuring designs are prepared in accordance with relevant legislation, codes of practice and industry standards.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in scaffolding design, temporary works, structural design or a related construction discipline.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Good understanding of scaffolding systems and construction methods.
- Knowledge of IS EN 12810 / IS EN 12811 and Irish scaffolding requirements would be highly advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and construction drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to design.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently while also working effectively with a wider project team.
- A relevant qualification in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
