About the Role
As a Mechanical Construction Manager, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of complex mechanical works on major construction projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing site activities, coordinating subcontractors and direct labour, driving programme delivery, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity are achieved. Working closely with project engineers, construction teams, consultants, suppliers, and client representatives, you will oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day management of mechanical construction activities on site.

Ensure all works are delivered safely and in accordance with company health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures.

Support and lead site safety initiatives in conjunction with the project and safety teams.

Manage mechanical installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, programme requirements, and quality standards.

Review drawings, specifications, and design documentation to support successful project execution.

Participate in design and constructability reviews, identifying potential risks and opportunities.

Manage and coordinate specialist subcontractors, vendors, and direct labour resources.

Monitor site productivity and progress against programme, implementing corrective actions where required.

Work closely with Project Engineers to ensure materials, equipment, information, and labour resources are available to support planned activities.

Assist the Project Manager with programme development, sequencing, progress reporting, and resource planning.

Conduct regular site inspections, quality reviews, and system walk-downs.

Support testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and project handover activities.

Lead coordination meetings with subcontractors, package owners, and project stakeholders.

Ensure project costs associated with labour, materials, plant, equipment, and variations are effectively monitored and controlled.

Support the management and close-out of project documentation including QA records, safety files, O&M manuals, punch lists, and final handover deliverables.
Requirements

Mechanical trade qualification and/or relevant third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

Minimum 5 years' experience as a Construction Manager within an M&E subcontractor or specialist contractor environment.

Proven experience delivering mechanical packages on large-scale commercial, industrial, advanced technology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, data centre, or similar projects.

Strong understanding of mechanical building services installations and construction methodologies.

Experience managing subcontractors, site resources, and programme delivery.

Strong understanding of quality assurance, testing, commissioning, and handover processes.

Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple work fronts simultaneously.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project cost control.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Full clean driving licence.
