Central Hotel Tullamore is currently seeking a reliable, practical, and hands-on Maintenance Operative to join our team.
This is a full-time position suited to someone who, has good attention to detail and is confident carrying out a wide range of general maintenance tasks.
The Maintenance Operative will play an important role in keeping the hotels, guest bedrooms, public areas, equipment, and facilities maintained to a high standard, helping to ensure a safe, and enjoyable experience for our guests and colleagues.

Working Pattern: 5 days over 7 days, including some weekends and public holidays

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repair work throughout the hotel, including guest bedrooms, public areas, staff areas and external areas.
- Liaise with Management, Housekeeping and other departments to identify, prioritise and complete maintenance requests.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues to minimise disruption to guests and hotel operations.
- Carry out painting, decorating, basic plumbing, carpentry, repairs and other general maintenance duties where competent to do so.
- Inspect hotel facilities and equipment regularly and report any faults, damage or potential safety issues.
- Ensure all work is completed to a good professional standard with minimum disruption to guests.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment at all times.
- Use tools, ladders and equipment safely and in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
- Ensure appropriate signage and precautions are used when carrying out work in guest or public areas.
- Keep the maintenance area, tools and equipment clean, organised and secure.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and routine checks throughout the hotel.
- Liaise with external contractors when required and report any issues to Management.
- Record completed maintenance work and report outstanding issues.
- Support other departments with practical maintenance requirements when required.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth running of the hotel.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in general maintenance, ideally within a hotel, commercial property or similar environment.
- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to work independently.
- Good knowledge of general building maintenance and repairs.
- Painting and decorating experience would be an advantage.
- Basic plumbing, carpentry or electrical knowledge would be an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
- A professional and friendly manner when working around guests.
