Are you highly IT-literate with strong Excel skills, and passionate about books, education, and learning? We’re looking for someone confident with systems and admin to help run a vibrant, busy bookshop and manage a team.
Our bookshop is not just a retail space—we also service schools, supplying bulk educational materials. We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Assistant Store Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in our success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strong IT Skills (Essential): Highly proficient with IT systems, particularly Excel, and comfortable learning bespoke accounts and ordering software. This is the core of the role: managing orders, invoices, spreadsheets, emails and admin with speed and accuracy.
- Team Leadership: Train, motivate, and support junior staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with school account customers, ensuring their needs are met with efficiency and professionalism.
- Retail Excellence: Oversee shop displays, maintain an inviting and well-organised retail space, and drive sales through effective merchandising and customer interaction.
- Requirements:Confident with IT systems, including Excel and basic accounts software. Able to manage emails and general admin with accuracy and professionalism. Strong attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proficiency and experience using Excel is a requirement as we run much of our systems using Excel. Confidence with IT systems and able to manage emails and general admin with accuracy and professionalism.
- Prior retail experience is a bonus but not essential—this role is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make a career change.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a natural ability to connect with customers and team members alike.
