Water Hygiene & Service Technican – Field Based
Location - Ennis-based, with travel to client sites nationwide.
Main Purpose of the Role
This is a field-based role responsible for delivering planned and reactive water hygiene and water treatment services across client sites nationwide. The role combines technical service work, scheduling, site inspections, client liaison, reporting, and operational coordination to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance requirements.
Core Responsibilities
Service Delivery
· Carry out planned and reactive water treatment and water hygiene works across client sites.
· Service, inspect, and troubleshoot water filtration systems and associated equipment.
· Install water treatment or filtration equipment and respond to equipment breakdowns as required.
· Complete Legionella control tasks, including routine checks, monitoring and associated hygiene duties.
· Clean and disinfect tanks and water systems as part of scheduled and reactive works.
Scheduling and Planning
· Plan and manage weekly, monthly, and annual work schedules in line with business requirements.
· Organise tank cleaning programmes across the year and coordinate additional short-term contracts.
· Schedule regular call-outs and ensure work is planned efficiently to meet operational needs.
· Manage time effectively and coordinate any staff assisting with service delivery.
· Site Surveys and Inspections
Schedule and carry out site surveys across client locations.
· Complete visual inspections of plant rooms, equipment rooms, tanks, and related systems.
· Identify issues, assess priorities, and ensure required follow-up actions are planned and completed.
· Client Management and Reporting
· Liaise with clients to plan service visits and agree schedules.
· Build and maintain strong client relationships through reliable service delivery and clear communication.
· Provide reports, updates, and service feedback following visits, inspections, and completed works.
Compliance and Safety
· Ensure all work is completed in line with water hygiene, health and safety, and site compliance requirements.
· Carry out risk assessments and support effective control measures across client sites.
· Maintain accurate records to support compliance and demonstrate that required checks and actions have been completed.
· Works safely in line with water hygiene procedures COSHH and site specific rams.
Candidate Requirements
· Experience and Technical Background
· Experience in water hygiene, water treatment, or a closely related field is essential.
· Legionella-related experience is essential, with a practical understanding of monitoring, control tasks, and compliance requirements.
· Experience servicing filtration equipment and carrying out water system inspections is highly desirable.
· Plumbing experience or a similar hands-on technical background would be a strong advantage.
· Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability is essential, with a track record of resolving equipment or system issues.
Skills and Personal Attributes
· Ability to work on own initiative and operate as a self-starter.
· Strong organisational ability, with the capacity to schedule work from weekly through to annual planning.
· Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise in line with business needs.
· Strong client management skills and confidence in dealing directly with customers.
· Excellent verbal and written English.
· A completer-finisher approach, with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
Other Requirements
· Full clean driver’s licence is essential.
· Flexibility to travel nationwide as part of a field-based role.
